BREAKING: The Starmer loyalists finally go public - in a statement signed by 112 MPs.
"Last week we had a devastatingly tough set of election results. It shows we have a hard job ahead to win back trust from the electorate. That job needs to start today - with all of us working together to deliver the change the country needs. We must focus on that. This is no time for a leadership contest."

I’m intrigued by the argument that Labour can’t change the leader as the Tories did. Does anyone think it was a bad idea when May was replaced by Johnson- when he won an 80 seat majority? Or that Johnson should have been replaced after Partygate? Or that Truss should have been replaced for being Truss? In each case, it minimised political damage.

Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. It’s about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future. As we mark 100 years of celebrating Black history, let’s honor the sacrifices of the leaders who came before us, and recommit ourselves to continuing their work.

The Panamá story seems a really important for understanding today’s Venezuela actions in the context of American expansionism. Theodore Roosevelt wanted to discuss the possibility of a canal through Panamá with Columbia ( of which Panama was then a part ). Columbia refused 🧵

NEW: Mandelson email to Epstein in June 2008:
“I think the world of you and I feel hopeless and furious about what has happened.
"I can still barely understand it. It just could not happen in Britain. You have to be incredibly resilient, fight for early release and be philosophical about it as much as you can... everything can be turned into an opportunity and that you will come through it and be stronger for it.
"The whole thing has been years of torture and now you have to show the world how big a person you are, and how strong.
"Your friends stay with you and love you.”
