Really enjoyed Hidden Multipliers by @asmartbear - filled with insight for startup founders and a must read IMO.
TIP: get the audiobook version - itโs like having Jason as a personal coach.

Four sincere attempts at OKRs, four failures, and every time: "you didn't do it right." Maybe the framework doesn't fit you -- so how do you find one that does?
Many thanks for pressing ๐ and โค๏ธ!

Told this to a founder today who was sitting on emails to potential customers but wasnโt sending them:
Bravery is feeling fear but then doing it anyway.
If there were no fear, there would be no bravery!
I totally understand.ย You're not alone -- nearly everyone is like that.
But it's also why nearly everyone doesn't do the work, and therefore doesn't succeed.
So, feel the fear and go forward anyway!
P.S. Who was that founder? It doesnโt matter, because itโs the same for so many of us.

Hiring mantra proposal:
Hire someone you like, but who is not like you.
โSomeone you like,โ because no one should have to work with people they hate. Youโre doing the hiring, so you control this.
โNot like youโ because otherwise you have too much specialty in one thing (whether professional, personal, perspective, background, ideas) rather than putting together puzzle pieces that โfit togetherโ but each bring something new to the picture
Together, you are amazing at everything. But only if everyone is different.

Iโm pretty sure I was the first person to preorder this book. Literally order #1. Thatโs how quickly I went from โJason wrote a bookโ to โshut up and take my money.โ
If you follow me, MicroConf, or TinySeed, buying this book isnโt really a decision. Itโs paperwork.
Go buy it. Stop reading this. Seriously. Why are you still here?
After more than a year of labor, my book ๐๐ช๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ฏ ๐๐ถ๐ญ๐ต๐ช๐ฑ๐ญ๐ช๐ฆ๐ณ๐ด has launched!
It's all my best ideas -- and best writing -- on how to grow your company with your existing budget and team.
And yes, I read the audiobook myself. :-)
๐๐๐ ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐: You can buy cheaper bundles directly from me -- Kindle and Audiobook, or those plus the physical book -- from hiddenmultipliers.com
๐๐๐ ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ป: It is available in paperback, Kindle, and Audible: tinyurl.com/hiddenmultiplierโฆ
๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐๐ ๐๐ธ๐ถ๐น๐น๐: Skills that implement the ideas in the book as well as articles, more added all the time, at skills.asmartbear.com/
I'm so proud of this and grateful to the many people who helped along the way, reading early drafts, challenging my ideas, and encouraging me to do it, and the 750 people who preordered the book, trusting that it would be worth it.
All your feedback and ideas are welcome, as usual!

Addition creates more complexity.
Subtraction reduces it.
Occasionally, โmore complexityโ is what we need.
Usually, though, itโs not.

I am a founder of $2.5M ARR startup. My brother (20yo) is just starting out from $0. He asked if he needs investors and partners to get to a real business:
short answer: no. don't go looking.
i started this thing as an indie project. no investors, no partners, no team. today 35+ people on the team, 20% equity belongs to partners. how did i find them? i didn't.
every single one came inbound. the receipts:
my dad wrote a $7k convertible note pre-MVP (love you pa). a big B2B player in our industry offered to invest at a $1.2M valuation when we were still pre-MVP. one customer offered $30k + bringing new customers for a commission. another customer offered $30k for equity.
a few ex-competitors offered to send their clients for a cut.
funds reach out too. don't have much to talk about yet.
none of it came from me hunting. all of it came from people who already used the product.
why? because the product actually solves a real problem for real people.
best position in any negotiation is being able to walk away. some people advise to PRETEND you're not raising to drive up interest. way better when you actually aren't.
the part nobody wants to hear:
if your B2B product is good, your customers will offer to invest in it or buy it. if they don't, the product isn't good enough yet. fix that.
if you're B2C and you need outside money to acquire users, you need a different product or a different growth motion. paying for users is a luxury startups can't afford.
and even if you DO decide to raise, understand the trade. you're giving up freedom. which is the thing most founders started a business for in the first place.
build something people want. the money finds you.
(follow along, i'm shipping the next one in public)

Congratulations to @williewockets, CEO of Firehawk Aerospace and a valued member of our network.
Will recently joined @Jason on @twistartups to share how Firehawk is transforming rocket propulsion with 3D-printed propellant, thereby dramatically reducing production time and cost.
We were proud to feature Will at our Principled Business Summit in New York, and this conversation is a great example of why.

All of us at Liberty Ventures and Principled Business are sorry to learn of the tragic loss of Joshua Baer, the founder and CEO of Capital Factory. An incredible leader in the venture space, driving it forward in Austin and Texas, welcoming us even before we moved to Austin. More importantly than what he did professionally, he was an incredible human being, kind, and warmhearted in every interaction. Our thoughts and prayers are with his whole family.

How does Liberty Ventures evaluate deal flow?
In last weekโs Angel Investor Accelerator, our Chief of Staff @soymichelleber shared a key shift in how we think about founders:
Itโs not just, โCan this founder build a large business?โ
Itโs, โDo we trust this founder to lead one?โ
That lens shapes how we source opportunities, assess character, and build conviction before investing.
For investors who think this way, weโd love to connect.
