In this op-ed carried by African Arguments, I argue “sanctions have constrained some of the networks financing Sudan’s war—but they have not stopped them. Shell companies, subsidiaries and cross-border networks enable sanctioned actors to adapt and evade restrictions.
What must change? Stronger enforcement, network-wide sanctions, a nationwide arms embargo and action against regional facilitators—without obstructing humanitarian aid.

The markets are completely empty of vegetables and fruit. There is danger ahead.
Please, I urge the world to take this tweet seriously.
A new famine is literally being created in Gaza. Free food distribution has almost completely stopped, major aid organizations have suspended their services, and now the World Food Programme, a key source of flour and canned food for hundreds of thousands of people here, has announced the suspension of its assistance.
For over a week, trucks carrying vegetables, fruit, and frozen food have also been prevented from entering Gaza.
Food supplies are shrinking, everything entering Gaza is being tightly controlled, and food queues are growing frighteningly long.
We are already witnessing the signs of another hunger catastrophe. Families are losing their food sources one by one. Please, don't wait until people are dying of hunger again before you act. The world must act now.

here the parasites are abducting a five year old Palestinian child. they will take him to a military prison. they will do terrible things to him before he will emerge a different child, utterly traumatized and terrified of the world. human rights groups have documented Israeli sexual torture, beatings, cursing, and isolation against Palestinian children.
but we're supposed to be supremely concerned about "anti-Semitism," right?

We are pleased to announce that, after two days on the road, our assigned team arrived safely in El Obied with the 15.5 tonnes of food aid that they were entrusted to deliver.
The journey to the previously besieged city of El Obied remains fraught with danger, and we are grateful to our assigned team for having the courage and professionalism to make this aid delivery and distribution a success.
These pictures show the joy and relief of some of the 500 families during distribution.
We would once again like to thank our friends at Operation Olive Branch (OOB) for providing the grant to fund this delivery.
If you would like to support the work KAK is doing to provide relief to war-affected people in Sudan, the link is in the reply. Thank you.

🇫🇷 France is taking in almost no Palestinians from Gaza, not even those it promised to host through its PAUSE program for at-risk scholars and artists, French lawmaker Aymeric Caron said Tuesday.
Caron said he met Foreign Ministry officials Monday with Mathilde Panot, head of France Unbowed's parliamentary group, along with lawyers, activists and elected officials, "to try to understand French inaction and move things forward."
"The responses provided so far are extremely vague and absolutely not satisfactory," Caron wrote on X.

thank you for giving our people’s pain the attention it deserves, for helping the world understand the scale of what Sudanese people are enduring, and for reminding the world that behind every statistic are human beings, families, and lives forever changed.

Masked Israeli settler militias from the extremist Hilltop Youth group stormed a Palestinian home in Turmus Ayya, north of Ramallah, while a woman was inside alone, pelting the house with stones and attempting to set it on fire with her trapped inside.
“I was home alone. I couldn’t cope. I didn’t know what to do,” the woman recounted, describing how more than 10 masked settlers terrorized her home with a barrage of stones. She also said one settler repeatedly returned over 24 hours to threaten her, leaving her living in fear.

BREAKING BAD’S RJ MITTE'S D*ATH EXPOSES GROWING MENTAL & HEALTHCARE CRISIS
Breaking Bad star RJ Mitte has died at just 34 years old, leaving behind not only a legacy of disability advocacy but also powerful criticism of America's profit-driven healthcare system, which often acts as a business rather than an entity for health.
Mitte, who lived with cerebral palsy and played Walter White Jr. alongside Bryan Cranston, reportedly died by s*icide. But years before his d*ath, he questioned why Americans continue suffering from illnesses that modern medicine has the ability to treat, while financial interests determine who receives care.
According to KFF, 28% of American adults have skipped or postponed necessary medical care, simply because of costs. Even having insurance doesn't guarantee access to affordable treatment, because many with chronic illnesses are rejected.
Meanwhile, nearly 49,000 Americans died by s*icide in 2024, and research shows adults living with disabilities face disproportionately high rates of s*icidal thoughts. M*rder-s*icides and other acts of violence also highlight the need for accessible crisis intervention, mental healthcare, and stronger social support.
Mitte's personal circumstances should not be reduced to assumptions about what led to his d*ath, nor is he the only case, but his prior advocacy in healthcare and his struggles with mental health point to a paradox the United States has failed to address:
How can one of the wealthiest countries on Earth possess some of the world's most advanced medical technology, yet leave millions struggling to afford the treatment they need to survive?
How can millions suffer from increasing mental health issues, but find little solace in the system?
In a world that’s become increasingly transactional, perhaps some should pay mind to Mitt’s words: “If you're suffering from illnesses and certain things that we have the ability to treat, yet we choose not to for financial gain. I think we have a long way to go on that.”
