Properly licensed attorney/lawyer by day, but not yours. Snarky 24/7. I use my powers for good, not evil. Mostly. Arguably. Depends.

El Niño is the devil.
Evacuation orders are in place for San Juan Zones 4, 5, and 10 and San Clemente Zone 12. If you are in one of these zones, leave immediately. #NorteFire

So I checked on this. The DC Circuit Court of Appeals has held that you cannot call yourself a lawyer if you have not passed the bar, citing the dictionary and the laws of at least 14 states. In re Banks, 561 A.2d 158, 164 (D.C. 1987)
Where is it required to pass a bar exam to be called a “lawyer”? Has she held herself out as licensed and offered legal advice? What state bar has jurisdiction to sanction her if she’s never sought admission? Her degree is a “Juris Doctor.” Can she insist on being called “Doctor”?

No. This graphic is wrong. The terms are used interchangeably in the US. You must have passed the bar. If you did not pass the bar, you can’t be a lawyer/attorney. You can’t give legal advice. You can’t go to court and represent someone else. It’s that simple. You may have graduated from law school and not practice. That person is considered trained in the law, a technical lawyer. But if you hold yourself out as one, and give any legal advice without passing the bar, that is the unauthorized practice of law. The definitions below would get someone convicted of the crime of unauthorized practice of law in my state.

The graphic misstates definitions of "lawyer" and "attorney" in the US, where the terms are used interchangeably for licensed professionals. law.usnews.com/law-firms/advi… dictionary.com/articles/lawye…

I hate when people at work ask you what books you are reading for professional development. I am reading books to counteract the effects of being professionally developed. I am reading books that bring me back to being human

Though Nimbus doesn't venture outside as often to join us on our weather observations now that the summit's frosty again, he still enjoys lounging in the sunshine by the beanbag chairs on a chilly autumn day! #nh #mountwashington #nimbuskitty #summitcat

Morning! Everyone try to do right and be kind today.
Summit staff enjoyed a beautiful sunrise this morning, complemented by rime ice on the observation deck railing and a thin layer of snow on the summit cone.

I’d spend half the morning looking for the right switch. He reaches straight for it, then moves on to the next check like it’s the most normal thing in the world What caught my attention was how often he comes back to the displays From the passenger seat, you hear the engines start and barely give it a thought Up front there’s a whole sequence of switches checks and readings before that familiar sound And that fire-warning test is a detail I’m glad made it into the video. Even the equipment you hope you’ll never need gets attention before departure Watching this gives you an appreciation for the quieter part of a pilot’s job. We usually picture takeoffs and landings. There’s something reassuring about seeing the patient, methodical work that happens while we’re still putting bags in the overhead bins

Winter has come
The first measurable snowfall of the season was recorded yesterday (October 5th), with 0.7" of snow measured over the last 24 hours. The snow was accompanied by thick rime ice, subzero wind chills, and a peak wind gust of 110 mph!

Moonlight lit up the foreground as the Northern Lights briefly lit up the northern skies last night. From Monday into Tuesday, the immediate foreground pictured will turn white as snow and rime ice return (along with high winds). Full details available at mountwashington.org/weather/…
