To be clear, the only reason I was able to reach Heidi was because young Palestinians provided cover with rocks against machine-gun- and tear-gas-wielding settlers and soldiers. It’s those kids, not the settler terrorists, who the IDF was hunting after the attack.
This is @infinite_jaz rushing to help Heidi under fire from Israeli settlers slings

A little outside my usual lane, but this needs to be said. 1/2 Since Abdul’s interview with Ezra Klein, I’ve watched parts of our movement go after him. On Wednesday, protesters chanted “traitor” at Zohran. I know I’ll be attacked for saying this, but I can’t stay quiet anymore while we turn on two of the most powerful advocates for Palestine in US politics. I think we’re missing the bigger picture. Zohran and Abdul are not only reaching millions of Americans outside our bubble, they're changing the way those Americans see Arabs and Muslims. For decades, Hollywood portrayed us as terrorists and religious extremists, a threat to the West. In Reel Bad Arabs, Jack Shaheen documented how Hollywood systematically depicted Arabs as villains across more than 900 films, and that was even before 9/11. I have no doubt that this dehumanization contributed enormously to the lack of empathy Palestinians received for decades. Now look at Abdul and Zohran. They're putting Arabs and Muslims in the middle of American political life as competent, principled American politicians, talking about healthcare, housing and the things that affect Americans' daily lives, without abandoning Palestine. A perfect example of that is Abdul's interviews on Fox. If you haven't seen them, I urge you to watch them before passing any further judgment. He was so compelling and so eloquent that even Jesse Watters, the Fox host, said afterward: “I like him. I don’t want to like him. I like him for some stupid reason.” And it's not just that. Zohran warned that Gaza was on the brink of genocide on October 13, 2023, and Abdul was calling it a genocide by October 21. Long before they became prominent political figures, they took enormous risks by challenging the boundaries of acceptable political discourse. And look how much those boundaries have shifted since. Without a doubt, Zohran taking that stance and winning in New York home to the largest Jewish community outside Israel was one of the biggest drivers of the broader shift we’re seeing within the Democratic Party. Kamala Harris, who many hate for denying and enabling the genocide in Gaza is now endorsing Abdul, who calls Gaza a genocide and wants to stop arms sales to Israel. If that isn't a win for the movement, what is? And yet instead of celebrating it, we're angry at Abdul for receiving her endorsement. Abdul did all this while also acknowledging the Jewish trauma from the Holocaust in his interview with Ezra Klein. Isn't that exactly what we've always wished politicians would do: represent all their constituents, including Jewish people, while refusing to compromise their moral principles? And that trauma is real for Jewish people. What we Palestinians hate is how Israel has used that trauma to justify our oppression and dispossession. Just to clarify: I don’t agree with everything they both say either. In the Ezra Klein interview, I wish Abdul had talked more about Palestinian trauma and what happened in 1948 as people don't understand it in the same way we all understand the trauma of the Holocaust. But why does the responsibility of explaining that fall solely on him? Yes, he could have done better, but so could we as a movement.

Zohran Mamdani reveals: He handed Trump a fake Daily News cover that says “Let’s build” and he got the deal. Also 60,000 Trump voters supported Mamdani. The old headline was “Ford to New York: Drop Dead.” He brought the rewrite. “Trump to New York: Let’s build.” The deal under it is Sunnyside Yard. A rail yard in Queens. A platform over the tracks. 12,000 homes. 30,000 jobs. The most homes in a single project since the early 1970s. He can’t do it alone. Amtrak owns the yard. The feds have to sign off. The money has to come from Washington. So the socialist mayor walks into Gracie Mansion with a mocked-up tabloid. Trump agrees to high-level meetings. About 60,000 New Yorkers who voted for Trump also voted for him.

As an Alberta MP you should probably know we are the only G7 country without a strategic oil reserve because we are the only G7 nation that is a net exporter of crude. National strategic reserves are maintained to meet an obligation to the IEA to hold 90 days of net imports on hand. That obligation for Canada is zero barrels. There is ~95 million barrels of private storage in Canada. Strategic reserves protect importers from supply disruption, not cost. Product released from reserves still generally enters the market at the global price. To truly get the price down, we need to resolve global challenges with supply and refining capacity. We’re keeping prices down in Canada by pausing the excise tax on gas, giving a groceries and essentials benefit to those who need it most, and working with provinces and companies to increase global supply, alleviating upward pressure.
Why doesn’t Canada profit from releasing oil and diesel from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve? Because we are the only G7 with no reserve. Our Conservative plan changes that. Build a strategic reserve to profit Canada, boost our dollar, lower fuel prices, and make us more independent: conservative.ca/cpc/emergenc…

"My father Michael Massaroli...you do my dad's legacy and the legacy of all these victims no honor by using this tragedy to spread hate. We have seen a medley of people come up today, of all races, all religions, all creeds and this tragedy is just that, it's a tragedy. I've had to grow up and spend the past 25 years seeing people use it to hate on our Muslim brothers and sisters, to hate on people who don't look like them. That's wrong. That does no honor to the victims here...please stop." Full video here: youtube.com/live/Wkl0vAMmU0I…

A week and a half before October 7, 2023 UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from Abu Dhabi and spoke with him for 45 minutes. In that conversation, bin Zayed warned that Hamas’ leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, was planning a major operation against Israel. Bin Zayed urged Netanyahu to take the situation seriously. To his surprise, however, the prime minister reacted with relative calm. Netanyahu said that, in his assessment, Hamas intended to operate in the West Bank area, and he reassured bin Zayed that Israel was prepared for any scenario. 🔗haaretz.com/israel-news/isra…

Bombshell story from @haaretzcom. Netanyahu was explicitly warned about a Sinwar and Hamas planning the October 7th attack, but he brushed it off and never relayed the message to his security chiefs.

It seems telling how many self-described American politicians are declaring that their one and only litmus test for remaining in an American political party is that it must remain loyal to this one foreign country.
The Atlantic: Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel threatens to leave the Democratic Party if Israel becomes a litmus test for the party. "I was Jewish before I was ever Michigan AG, I'm going to be Jewish afterwards... I was Jewish before I was ever a member of the Democratic Party—and if I have to—I'll be Jewish afterwards, too."
