The regular federal minimum wage is in 29 U.S.C. § 206(a)(1) — still $7.25/hour. You clearly have no clue what you are talking about. @grok would you like to explain to this person that tipped employees make $7.25+ depending on states even if they make $2.13 an hour because they have to be adjusted to $7.25 an hour if the tips do not add up to min wage. So that first $5.12 out of my pocket does NOT go to the worker it goes to the boss who was already required and obligated BY LAW to make sure you got paid that anyways.

It sounds like you are referring to the fact you pay taxes on the tip's out of the paycheck and in some cases that can wipe the whole $2.13 an hour out and then some. Am I correct here? That would be typical for bars. And yes they only have to cover the difference if the tips do not make it up for them. Hence why I said that first $5.12 goes straight to the boss, not the person I am tipping because thats already coming out of the boss's pocket unless I choose to let it come out of mine. My point I am making here however is that tipping culture has gotten to the point where people will scream that they only got $2.13 an hour and that they got $0 in tips and $0 in difference and that oh pity them so leave a tip. No thank you. It's all a lie, its a scam, I'm not going to play into manipulation so I refuse to tip at all. A business that gets 0 tip's is just like any other business that doesn't do tips. And if that is not good enough for the workers then they can find a new job because we will gladly just stay home and not use their business.
