Customers deserve value for money. Instead, people are being ripped off by subscriptions they no longer want. Labour will take action to cut the cost of living and stop customers getting trapped in unwanted contracts.

Citizens Advice is calling for a ban on auto-renewing subscriptions, which would include newspapers and magazines. It found 73% of people in the UK have at least one type of any subscription but it criticised techniques like free trials which many people don't remember to cancel.

*thats* my issue with subscriptions. Being expected to pay monthly for something that the item I purchased can already do and I’ve paid a lot of money for it!

I'm not worried, I'm angry & frustrated that all things seem to be aiming for subscription models intent on squeezing every last penny out of people for stuff that should be capable without a subscription. I want MY appliances to store stuff on MY hardware. Not the cloud!

just found out that to cancel a digital (international) subscription to @thetimes you have to make a phonecall to the UK. Idiots. I'll try to be nice to the poor soul who has to handle these calls. More tomorrow, UK office hours of course.
