About yesterday's cancellation email Yesterday, some of you (24k people…) received an email saying your Screen Studio subscription had been canceled. We've seen the concern in your replies. Here's what actually happened and what we've done about it. What happened The cancellation was a human error on our payment provider's side. It wasn't an attack, and it wasn't connected to your account or activity. What we've done Our payment provider is restoring all affected subscriptions automatically, so you don't need to take any action. PayPal subscriptions will take longer to restore, but we'll make sure your access to Screen Studio won't be interrupted. Your access to the app was not interrupted at any point. All your work, recordings, and settings remained available the entire time. Your data is safe There was no breach. No account was accessed without authorization. No customer information was lost, exposed, or compromised. If your subscription still shows as canceled, or anything seems wrong with your billing or app access, email us at [email protected]. We'll fix it directly. I'm genuinely sorry for the confusion and stress this caused.

More work with the new layout system. Vertical videos will finally always (hopefully) look good at screen.studio. Also, "Reel mode" makes it much easier to preview how it will look on social media.

Screen Studio will soon switch to the yearly subscription model. Some info about the reason behind it and if something will change if you already have the license key (TLDR: no) 1. Why: - the main motivation was to create a more long-term sustainable business model. I'm thinking about scaling up the dev team and it is an expensive commitment. I'm worried that if sales drop at some point, keeping the business alive with the larger team will be, at the very least, quite stressful. Subscriptions make it easier to understand long-term cash flow - technical: currently, you get one year of updates included. On the Screen Studio side, it means keeping track of all app versions to provide "the latest version you can get." It is very problematic, and the subscription model avoids it altogether (everyone always gets the latest version) - teams plan: managing teams with license keys is actually quite awkward. There is no easy way of sharing seats or adding and removing them. I want to introduce simple "invite team members" flow for teams the same way as every other SaaS 2. What will happen with existing license keys: They'll all still be supported, and if you have a key, you can use Screen Studio forever. In terms of "1 year of updates" included in each license - to make it simpler on our side, we will give everyone an extra "~1 year" for free so the "end date" ends on the same day and the app version for everyone. The earlier you purchase Screen Studio, the more "extra updates time" you will get. When we release subscriptions, we'll add 1 year of updates to every existing license key. After that year passes, you'll be able to keep using the Screen Studio version released then forever or switch to the subscription model to always have the latest version. 3. Pricing: Pricing will likely be quite similar to the current one (no final decision yet, tho) At the initial release, there will be no Monthly plan; we're considering it. --- Let me know if you have any thoughts. Designing a new "Recording picker" UI. I don't really like the current one that much. I think I wanted to be too clever about it.

We're still investigating why sometimes screen recording freezes. Released 2.1.5 which might fix it in some cases. It also will allow us to gather more informations about broken recordings to narrow down the issue eg. to specific system and hardware version
