I feel like this scene goes overlooked a lot bc people focus on the ship fuel (Eren looking to Mikasa afterwards as a person he "failed" to be strong for) or the "cringe" (Eren hitting himself) and neglect what it says about the themes, character growth and EMA's overall dynamic

like, I've always found Armin and Mikasa's responses to Eren hitting himself telling. Mikasa immediately notices the shift in Eren's demeanor and rushes to restrain him without looking for a reason. ever logic-brained Armin is confused and says it's too early to transform
