Been clearing out the old pig area. Dropping a few problem trees and burning the slash and the brush. Leaving the stumps high until they are pulled. On a sunny day it's certainly better than working

Kind of guy who sports bespoke pastel PPE to prune his azaleas
There is a guy on our street who is obsessed with his chainsaw. Every few months he cuts down more trees and more brush and it makes the big lot around his house look worse. He's trimming away more and more, and it's looking barren and sad. Today he took down some little trees by the corner of the house. Not big trees that might fall and hurt the house. Little pine kinds of things. Also a big shrub by the front door which created a sort of nice wall. For some reason he also took down some little trees near the edge of the periphery. They are scattered all over the yard now and he's dragging them to the back where he will burn them tonight. He always burns this brush in the fall. That's cool, it smells good and looks nice in the night. But the constantly cutting down of the trees isn't cool. It's his place whatever - actually it's not, the house belongs to the woman who lives there, the one who he moved in with a few years ago - but it sure seems stupid to me. Whenever he gets on a chainsaw tear my wife and I both ask each other, shocked - "What the hell is wrong with this guy? He's possessed by the chainsaw." Now it's looking barren and ugly. I'm not a lawn guy or a perfectly manicured grounds guy. Quite the opposite. I like natural stuff and I like trees and bushes and houses that feel like they come out of the woods. It's like he's trying to turn the place into the saddest lot imaginable. The corner where he took down a tree is now exposed and pretty sad comparatively. I don't think he consciously wants to do it though, I think he is retired and bored and has nothing else to do and loves using the chainsaw. So he tries to find something to do just like the old lady who cleans the room that hasn't been slept in for 2 years. So I think he will just keeps cutting and cutting, sawing and sawing, burning and burning, until there isn't any thing left.

It was a crazy situation. He he reverted after being sentenced to death and became quite devout. He became very close to two lib priests after they saw some of his writings on his faith in the death penalty published somewhere. Neither agreed with the death penalty, nor did he initially, but they counseled him through the process where he came to accept the punishment, which culminated in a formal determination by the bishop of Norwich that he was not sinning or committing suicide by doing so.
Prejean met with him right before his first execution date and failed to talk him out of it, but fought against him in court and secured a temporary stay. When he got to stay overturned, she publicly and personally called out his attorney and demanded he refuse to cooperate. She attacked the attorney for refusing to do so. Ross finally died about 6 months after their meeting.
I crossed paths with Ross when they transferred him to Somers for the first aborted execution, and I met some of the Sisters of Mercy who were working with Prejean at Gates CI a few months later right before the execution. It always seemed so bizarre that they went as far as to try to deprive him of counsel in the name of his dignity lol. I should write about this at length I guess since I had such a weird vantage point for it.
Is this how the Morlocks start?

Re-upping this for a friend. His dad is struggling to make ends meet after years of caretaking for his late wife. Very basic needs like his prescriptions and his wife's headstone are being neglected or put onto the son's credit cards. Help if you can.

Sunny fall day. I've got my wife digging out some rocks from a field with an excavator while I shuffle them off to the treeline with the tractor. My youngest son leaves for his deployment tomorrow and all the siblings who can are coming over for dinner.
People will tell you with a straight face that there is no difference between the political parties
