Every spring, it’s the same ritual. 1000's of students apply to the same internships at the same companies, get filtered by the same software, and receive the same rejection. There's another way, and the line for it is basically empty.
This category is full of traditional college guides. This is exactly what AI is changing. It's very fitting that Indispensable is ranked #1.
Indispensable is officially out in the world!
I wrote this book to help students prepare for a future shaped by AI — and become harder to replace as they enter the workforce.
Now, it's yours. Order a copy for yourself or a young person you care about wherever books are sold!
Tomorrow is launch day!
Over the past month, I’ve shared why I wrote Indispensable and who I hope it serves. Thank you to everyone who followed along, shared, or reached out.
Today is your last chance to pre-order. Tomorrow, the book is yours.
With my book formally launching next week (although it's already available for sale almost everywhere), I'm thrilled that Whitney Fleming has published this article I wrote. Follow her publication for more excellent parenting advice. parentingteensandtweens.com/…

People often ask who I wrote this book for. The answer is students. But it's also for the parents, teachers, counselors, and mentors helping them prepare for a world that's changing faster than ever. My hope is that this book starts better conversations. 2 weeks until launch!
AI can make students stronger or weaker. They can use it to skip the struggle of learning something difficult. Or they can use it to ask better questions, challenge assumptions, get feedback, and explore an idea further. As Brice Challamel points out, AI shouldn't be a shortcut.
The world is changing faster than schools can adapt. That's not anyone's fault. But it is the reality students face today, and they can't wait for someone else to hand them a roadmap. They need to build one. Read more in the AI-Ready Student newsletter: ai-ready-student.beehiiv.com…
When I wrote Indispensable, I wasn't trying to predict the future of AI. My goal was to help students build the judgment they'll need no matter what the future looks like. That's a much more meaningful investment, isn't it? 3 weeks to go until Indispensable is out in the world!
Gopi captured one of the central ideas behind "Indispensable" perfectly. Students don't need to compete with AI. They need to learn how to use it thoughtfully while developing the skills it can't replace. Which human skills do you think will matter most over the next decade?
One question I'd encourage every parent to ask their teen this summer: "Show me how you use AI." Not tell me. Show me. The goal isn't to get them to give you the "right" answer. The goal is to understand how they think. That's where the best conversations begin.
I didn't write this book because I think I have all the answers. I wrote it because I couldn't find the practical playbook I wanted for my own kids as AI reshapes the workforce. Over the next month, I'll be sharing more of the story behind the book. I hope you'll follow along!
Becoming indispensable isn’t about competing with AI, memorizing the most facts, or earning the highest GPA. It’s about learning how to ask better questions, challenge assumptions, and develop skills AI can’t replace.
The entire career ladder isn’t disappearing, but the bottom rung is. Jeff captured this well in his review of my upcoming book, “Indispensable.” Students don't need to compete with AI. They need to learn how to use it well while building the human skills it can't replace.
Norway just banned AI for students under 13, and I understand the reasoning. Students need to learn how to read, write, and think before they rely on technology to help them. The bigger question is what comes next. Explore my take on Norway's decision: ai-ready-student.beehiiv.com…
