What I did on my last day working @Google
In the morning, I had my exit meeting with an HR (“PeopleOps”) guy working at his home in the northeast U.S. He had a lovely animated gentle snowstorm background. I met him 2 weeks ago when I started the process of leaving the company.
Hi fellow fans of old-timey Apple stuff! I wrote a thing today. scottknaster.substack.com/p/…
Hi @WilliamShatner, I came across this from “Miri” in IMDb. I read your daughters were in this episode but I can’t find any source for which kids are which (except the lead kids and Phil Morris). Would you mind pointing out your daughters and any other kids you might recognize?
Itsa podcast! I spent a fun hour hanging out with old comrades Mike Stern and Tom Hershenson at General Magic and the Soul of Tech. We talked about General Magic, soulful (and soulless) companies, storytelling, and Silicon Valley. Check it out!

Number of times I’ve activated “Type to Siri” on my iPhone 17: dozens.
Number of times I’ve wanted to activate “Type to Siri” on my iPhone 17: zero.
Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Talk & Type to Siri > Type to Siri > off.
Just a few chapters in to Moses and the Doctor by @LukeEpplin and I'm already loving it. Favorite bits so far:
- Doc's speech, as told in the Prologue
- Moses's vow to himself that he sealed in the family Bible
- These cool trading cards / bookmarks the publisher sent me!
iPhone feature I'd like to have: Help me out if I accidentally leave the flashlight on and I put the phone down or in my pocket. Use the proximity sensor or Face ID or the back-tap sensor. If you detect it's on, beep at me. Maybe a timer too. (Now tell me they already have this.)
In 1967 The Beatles released a song named Blue Jay Way.
The first line of the song is “There’s a fog upon L.A.”
The Toronto Blue Jays didn’t exist yet.
48 years later, the World Series is the Blue Jays vs. L.A. on a smoggy day in L.A.
The Beatles knew everything.

Love this. This year’s Game 7 Gang. For those who aren’t familiar, Pirates fans gather every year at the Forbes Field wall in Oakland to celebrate Bill Mazeroski’s iconic home run by listening to the radio broadcast.
.@NanoBanana Please Make an image of Voyager 1 going through space about 15,000,000,000 miles from Earth. It's Voyager's birthday!

Hey @NanoBanana generate an image of all the tourist attractions in Denver showing in single image in comic style.
50 posts! I've been having fun telling stories about my decades working at Apple, Google, et al., and other adventures here on Earth. I think of it as an episodic chaotic memoir. Only a few hundred more posts and then I think I'll be done! scottknaster.substack.com/p/…
