Joining Avelo has me inspired to run again. Just did my first workout since August of 2024:
90 seconds 6:00
60- 5:50
60- 5:40
60- 5:30
60- 5:20
60- 5:10
60- 5:00
30- 4:40
2x 30- 4:30
30- 4:20
It’s very cool to see how my stride changes as my pace increases.
I’m very excited to have joined Avelo Running, and I can’t wait until we launch next week. I really think Avelo will help a lot of runners of all abilities! I wrote a substack about joining Avelo and some of the applications for athletes!

Just had a very insightful conversation with @scottfaubs on marathon training, super shoes, retirement, and why we do all this in the first place.
It will be live next week on the Strength Running Podcast!
With three weeks to the NYC marathon, most people are in their last big week before they taper. Don't frame this stretch as "just get to the taper." You want to be building momentum and confidence all the way to the race. Keep your aggressive mentality even in the taper.

Mantras are one of the most powerful tools for a runner, but you can't make them up in race. I used to put a 3 bullet race plan & my mantras on a piece of paper and put them in my flats the night before so I could go over the plan one last time right before the gun went off.
I recently joined the marketing team at Avelo Running. It’s an incredible piece of running tech and I can’t wait to help bring it to the public! If you want to learn more about Avelo, here is a blog about what we’ve been up to in the last year.

Your body rarely feels good the week of a marathon. It's normal to feel sluggish these last few weeks. Your body knows something big is coming and is saving the juice for race day!
Point to point course, not record eligible. We can’t stand for this being ratified, some things are sacred!
My one and only interaction with Josh was the shuttle from Falmouth back to Boston. He was the most hungover person I’ve ever seen. Never a doubt greatness was coming!
3:42.66 ‼️‼️‼️
THE WORLD RECORD IS NO MORE. Josh Kerr 🇬🇧 delivers on the hype of Project 222 as he takes down Hicham El Guerrouj’s 1999 world record in the mile, running 3:42.66 to become the first man in history under 3:43.
Kerr called his shot and thrilled a roaring home crowd, pulling away from runner-up Yared Nuguse over the final lap to make history.
When you’re training for a marathon every long run should be a fueling rehearsal for race day. Take these chances to dial in your fueling plan from breakfast all the way through the entire run.
If you’re training for a fall marathon through the summer heat, you have to slow down and prioritize effort. My LT1 was around 4:35 during my career. My summer LT1 was often times closer to 5:00. Here’s a couple helpful graphics to figure out your pace.

I’m seeing a lot of “Strength Routine for Runners” content lately, and the one exercise they all miss is a front foot elevated split squat. Really good for challenging internal rotation of the hip!
If you’re an amateur runner looking to do threshold sessions without access to or the understanding of lactate testing, a good rule of thumb is to finish feeling like you could squeeze out another rep or two.
If you think tips like this would help your running, here’s a link to sign up to be coached by me! Fall marathons are coming up quick!
