Old school NBA fans, this is how you fix today’s game: you make goaltending 3-point shots LEGAL. In other words, a dude can just orbit the lane on defense, waiting to deflect anything shot from beyond the arc. This would force offenses to make some interesting decisions

The Rooneys leaning D is no surprise. They helped Homestead Grays owner Cumberland Posey when the Negro League club hit upon hard times in the 1930s, and have always been a progressive NFL franchise, in terms of diverse hiring. Good for them…
From USA Today, political donations of NFL owners:

Mark me down as in favor of this year’s World Series matchup. Star power. Legacy franchises. Big Boy Baseball. Should be fun. Who was in the series last year? I can’t remember.

Every October I’ll pull this one off the dusty shelf and thumb through it.

Did Mickey Mantle fans slander Babe Ruth fans in the 1950s, the same way the younger Lebron fans today talk down the Michael Jordan believers? Did that happen? And flipping it around, did Ruth fans trash Mantle for whatever weird selfish reason?

Great colorization, if you look at the flags you can see the wind was howling out to CF that day
OCTOBER 1, 1932 - This extremely difficult Wrigley Field restoration/colorization project does not show the 1932 World Series Game 3 "Called Shot" Babe Ruth blasted to Center Field off Charlie Root in the 5th (nobody on & 1 out), but it DOES show Ruth rounding 2nd after his 1st blast he hit off Root to deep right center with 2 on & nobody out in the Top of the 1st! You can clearly see Ruth nearing 2nd base running past Cubs 2nd Baseman Billy Herman and that is Yankees 3rd Basemen Joe Sewell heading towards 3rd. You can also see lead-off man (& Center Fielder) Earle Combs coming down the 3rd base line. For an added bonus, you can clearly see clean-up hitter (& 1st Baseman) Lou Gehrig coming to the plate. The Iron Horse would also take poor Charlie Root deep TWICE! 1st leading off the top of 3 to deep right, and then he went back-to-back with Ruth's "Called Shot" in the top of 5 (also to deep right) for his 2nd solo shot of the day! Yankees big Right-Hander George Pipgras would give up 4 earned over 8, and Herb Pennock would go 3-up, 3-down to close out the Cubs in the 9th. With the 7-5 win in Game 3 the Yankees would take a commanding 3-0 series lead into October 2nd's Game 4 where they would complete the sweep of the Northsiders with a 19-Hit 13-6 drubbing for the win and the series! @OldBallparks @MLBcathedrals @BaseballAmerica @BaseballDigest @StoolBaseball @OTBaseballPhoto

There’s been lots of anti-DH slander with regard to the Shohei Ohtani conversation. Mind you, he’s not really “a DH,” he’s a unicorn who— if he stopped pitching, shifted gears— would immediately be counted amongst the most athletically-gifted RFers in the game. He’s not Edgar..

Not a huge body of outfield work in Japan, obviously, but in 62 games (mostly in RF) he had a .990 fielding pct (1 error) and SEVEN assists. That seems promising.

If the White Sox played in the PCL or International Leagues, they’d probably be around 114-and-33 and feel much better about themselves.

Ever wonder how fast Ty Cobb and Cool Papa Bell were? This. This is how fast they were. Both were clocked a couple *tiny* ticks quicker than PCA was last night.
THE SPEED FROM PCA 🏃‍♂️💨 Pete Crow-Armstrong delivers the inside-the-park home run! 🎥 @MLB

The fact Jeimer Candelario (a rookie reserve on the 2016 Cubs) has hit more home runs than Kris Bryant from 2018-through today- and Bryant is in Colorado- is hard to believe. I still can’t get over how quickly this all fell apart for Bryant.

There will be a book written about the collapse of this White Sox franchise. The optimism just 2-3 years ago, and now, it’s the Titanic submersible, the whole thing has simply imploded. Historically bad.

Jaw-dropping power aside, Aaron Judge has also committed just ONE ERROR since August 15, 2021. More than 2,500 innings with the leather, mostly in RF and CF…and a handful of games in LF this season.
