BRUCE McAVANEY TO CALL THE MELBOURNE CUP!
One of Australia's most respected sporting broadcasters, Bruce McAvaney, will return to the race-calling microphone for this year's Melbourne Cup on Triple M.
McAvaney's remarkable journey began in 1976 when he met Adelaide race caller Kevin Hillier during a visit to Victoria.
His first race-calling assignment followed at Mindarie-Halidon in South Australia in 1977, before making his first on-air race call for Adelaide radio station 5DN at Oakbank.
Nearly 50 years later, and following his recent induction into the South Australian Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame, McAvaney is preparing to call Australia's most famous horse race.
🎙️ A legendary voice for Australia's greatest race!
