An unconfirmed rumor claims that Daft Punk were originally Rockstar’s first choice for the GTA 6 soundtrack, and they approached their management with an “unlimited budget” for a “final comeback”.
Daft Punk declined and Justice were chosen instead.

Daft Punk is no stranger to turning down big checks. I saw the amount they were offered to play at EDC the year they did Tron. Eye watering amount for less than an hour of work and they still refused it. They don’t need it.

Their whole retirement was quite badly planned, as they made a four times Grammys and then waited years only to announce retirement when they could’ve done a massive tour or original new album, and now this😅
