GB built an entire 1150 mile 275/400kV supergrid system to accommodate GB its new coal, oil and nuclear power stations 1950-1970’s. United States famously dismissed the project as "unnecessarily ambitious" at the time Short memories these fossil fuel lobbyists.

A properly designed experiment is always helpful, regardless of the result.
This comment makes blogging about how to do science worth it. Science works when we learn from being wrong. We don’t teach this nearly enough.

Super helpful blog from @KamounLab. Thanks for writing those useful pieces. Extremely helpful for #early_career_researchers. I share with my stdnts and suggest them to read to set the right mindset. Mindset is everything. Sharing here for a bigger audience-ECRs . #phdstudent
I just published: How do we recognize world-class science? Not by the journal it appeared in What I told early-career researchers about prediction, rigour, failure, priors — and the tyranny of bar graphs. Science predicts. Pseudoscience doesn’t. Twenty-nine years How to science, and how not to What’s a failed experiment? Death by statistics Ditch the bar graphs Get credit for all of it kamounlab.medium.com/how-do-…

There was a very big hole in the Chancellor John Healey's claim yesterday that he is going to generate a new age of industry. Why would anyone want to open a factory, or any other kind of industrial plant, in Britain when they would be paying far more for their energy than in other countries? UK non-domestic customers paid an average of 26.63 pence per kilowatt-hour for their electricity in 2024, more than any other member state of the International Energy Agency (IEA) and 60 per cent more than the IEA (International Energy Agency) average. It is little wonder that our chemical plants, oil refineries and many other industries are rapidly leaving our shores in the search for cheaper power. ✍️ Ross Clark Article | spectator.com/article/andy-b… | @RossjournoClark
