ALT Introduced brown tree frog tadpoles influence New Zealand high country ponds. Tadpoles at high densities are altering pond ecosystems, and their characteristics enable them to multiply easily, so their presence should be monitored and ponds with no tadpoles should be protected. Following with images of insects affected by tadpoles, pond plants, algae, frog eggs, and tadpoles.

ALT Why and how we investigated these tadpoles. We used landscape surveys and experiments to investigate them because they are not native. The frog was introduced from Australia 150 years ago, and we used landscape surveys and two outdoor mesocosm experiments (32 tanks, pictured) to determine their tadpoles' effects.
