Here's what people miss on the whole Afghanistan thing. We talk a lot about how Trump released the Taliban, but that's only a small part of the story. He released them a year before the withdraw date and gave them a date. So the Taliban went around from city to city, essentially gaining a surrender in advance. The country wasn't lost in the days leading up to the withdraw date, it was lost in the moths leading up to it. By the time Joe Biden was sworn in, it was already done. There are other things about moving the withdraw date that make it far more complicated than "just moving it" too. But by and large the media has given Trump a pass on everything while blaming Biden for things that were Trump's fault. You can't blame the backup quarterback for losing a game when he comes in down 49-7 with a minute left in the fourth quarter. But that's what has happened here.
