Codex’s “hatch-pets” skill for creating Pets is useful for way more than you think!
It builds an 8x9 sprite atlas with transparent (!) unused cells, individual animation frames, row-by-row prompts, metadata, validation, and QA assets.
Basically, you can give it a concept, and it literally will build you a full usable sprite sheet that you can repurpose for whatever you want.
Beyond Codex Pets, you can use it to create game sprites, tiny mascots, retro UI companions, stream overlays, chat stickers, loading animations, website easter eggs, or pixel-art-ish character prototypes.
Really useful!

This thing does more than what you think it does. Codex now available for non-coders

The new OpenAI nonprofit just announced that it aims to spend $1B in its *first year" and will be led by two superb humans -- @JacobTref and @woj_zaremba. Simply put, this initiative has huge potential to do a whole lot of good.

Codex at 2M+ active users up 25% week over week... and that was before we launched the app on Windows and GPT-5.4!

ryan and team worked extremely hard to make gpt-5.4 great for finance
it's much improved for financial modeling and analysis, integrates directly into excel, and connects to factiva, daloopa, s&p global, and many more
it does feel like a codex moment is coming here
Excited to share that I’ve joined OpenAI to help build the future of financial intelligence.
My focus is connecting models directly to the data sources, tools, and workflows analysts use every day. My team’s first product is the Excel plugin.
After software engineering, finance will see the benefits of model improvements more acutely than almost any other field.
This is just the start for us! More to come soon!

This OpenAI blog is a must-read.
Don't ask what your agents can do for you. Ask what you can do for your agent

Some things we make are purely meant to bring joy, others will profoundly affect how you get things done. We are getting ready to launch something that combines both and the team is so excited to share it soon.

I am Tibo and I have an incredible team. Codex would not exist without them and they cooked.
Enjoy the new Codex app, access through your free/go ChatGPT plan and 2X rate limits on other plans. Can't wait to hear what you do with it.

We're at a pivotal moment in AI privacy.
Billions of users trust AI with their personal information, millions of businesses are sharing confidential IP, and future consumer devices require a thoughtful approach to privacy and safety.
@OpenAI is looking for founding PMs and engineers to help solve this problem using strong encryption. If TEEs, HSMs, and end-to-end encryption are your jam, apply below or DM me!

Clearer image shows that the firearm removed from the scuffle by an agent prior to the shooting in Minneapolis was almost definitely the victim’s Sig P320, meaning he was unarmed when shot by agents with Border Patrol and Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE).

He had a permit to carry
He was legally exercising his 2nd Amendment right.
He did not draw the weapon.
He was filming when they approached him.
They had taken his weapon from its holster before they shot him.
It was murder.

BREAKING:
The Minneapolis Police Chief says of the shooting victim:
"Based on the information that we have, which is very limited, this is a 37-year-old white male who is a Minneapolis resident."
He adds: "We believe he is a lawful gun owner with a permit to carry."

Codex ❤️ OSS. Over the coming days we are prioritizing working with open source coding agents and tools to support them in the same way as OpenCode, so that codex users can benefit from their account and usage in those combined with using our models in codex directly.
We are already talking with OpenHands, RooCode and Pi. Reach out if you build in the open and would benefit from this.
Our own work is OSS at github.com/openai/codex

Steve Jobs on working with incredibly talented people
“When you’ve got incredibly talented people that are also rare and in demand, if you don’t treat them right, they can go get another job in 10 minutes,” Steve Jobs explains. “So this strange thing happens where the hierarchy of power inverts, and the CEO is actually at the bottom.”
He continues:
“So I feel like I work for most of these people because they’re the ones who are doing all of the brilliant work . . . The best people are very hard to come by, so it’s management’s job to support them because they’re on the frontlines doing the work. So that’s kind of how we run [Pixar].”
