Before Charizard ate the timeline, Venusaur was already a Base Set pillar. This is Venusaur. Base Set #15/102. Rare Holo. Illus. Mitsuhiro Arita. English Wizards of the Coast release, January 9, 1999. Base Set’s Grass Stage 2 sits in the original Kanto starter trio with Charizard and Blastoise: 100 HP, Pokémon Power Energy Trans for moving Grass Energy around, Solarbeam for 60. Unlimited is the copy most people actually handle; 1st Edition / shadowless are different conversations — and I’m not inventing print runs or grades here. Collector hook: if you’re building a vintage wall, Venusaur is the green corner next to Blastoise #2 and the obvious fire chase. Hot take — Arita’s Base Set #15 still reads cleaner on a shelf than a lot of modern Venusaur spectacle cards. No Tera gem, no SIR frame — just the flower canopy and that early WotC holo strip. Which Base Set holo are you still hunting — Venusaur #15, Blastoise #2, or something quieter like Hitmonchan? #PokemonTCG #BaseSet #Venusaur #WotC #VintageTCG #TCGCommunity #CardCollecting
