We don't know how far humanity can go. We've never had the chance to find out.
Perhaps it's time we changed that.
Building $TIG
The search for better algorithms shouldn't be limited to people with specialist programming knowledge.
Today, we're open-sourcing Talos, our new autoresearch tool, now available in its initial beta.
Talos takes an idea and turns it into an iterative search process. You pick a TIG challenge and give an LLM a direction to explore. Talos then runs in a loop, writing, modifying and testing algorithms, and comparing each candidate against the current top mainnet algorithm.
Every candidate is compiled and evaluated using TIG's own runtime and verifier. It must outperform the baseline on both training and held-out data to qualify as an improvement.
The result is a new way to explore algorithmic solutions. You use your own compute and LLM account, and get a ready-to-submit package if Talos finds something better.
By lowering the barrier to algorithm development, we can bring more people into the innovation, put more ideas to the test and create more opportunities to find algorithms nobody has thought of yet.
Itβs GPLv3 licensed, so anyone can build on it.

Big advancement into the right direction. Step by step to conquer the algo world. $TIG
We've now open-sourced the code for a mining pool that runs on TIG.
Want to run your own? Fork it. Give it a name. Set your own rules. Open it to whoever you like.
The pool assigns benchmarks to members' machines, submits their work under the pool's TIG account, tracks credits and collateral on Base, and handles settlements and withdrawals. Most of the groundwork is done. The rest is up to you: hosting, branding, payout model, fees and spending caps.
What's the point? For those new here, pools help smaller benchmarkers balance their factors across challenges. More pools mean more people can take part, and healthier competition across the network.
That's why we're putting the code out there so anyone can build on it. No need to start from scratch.

MIT licensed. Still in development, so expect some bugs.

Tomorrow at 5pm BST, @Dr_JohnFletcher will be joined by TIG Researcher Adi to discuss The Simulation Deterrent.
You'll hear how AI censored publication of the most creative AI safety strategy ever proposed, why itβs in the news, and what this has to do with TIG.
Heβll also cover the latest TIG updates, including the upcoming open-sourcing of the mining pool, our research teamβs trip to Munich, and new Challenges and Challenge Owners.
See you there!

β«οΈ Artificial Intelligence Changes Algorithm Discovery
AI dramatically strengthens $TIG's thesis
Historically.. algorithm discovery was almost entirely performed by dumb old humans
That is now changing..
AI can increasingly write code.. read papers.. test ideas.. analyse results.. combine techniques.. debug implementations and sift through enormous amounts of solution data
So.. what happens when algorithm discovery itself becomes automated?
Imagine autonomous research systems running continuously..
- They generate algorithms..
- Those algorithms enter $TIG..
- Benchmarkers test them..
- Successful algorithms gain adoption..
- Rewards flow toward the systems producing useful improvements..
- Those rewards fund more compute..
- More compute allows more experiments..
- More experiments generate more potential breakthroughs..
We now have the beginnings of a self reinforcing machine economic loop for scientific discovery
What's being described above is Prometheus, built by @tigfoundation
$TIG has created an infrastructure where humans and AI agents compete together in an economic tournament for computational innovation
Resulting in an infrastructure on which machine intelligence competes to produce useful IP
That is something that has barely existed until now

Last week, @Dr_JohnFletcher discussed quantum security, AI in mathematics, and a question connecting both: as technology becomes more powerful, how do we make sure its benefits remain open and accessible?
Just a heads because I think a lot of people might be really disappointed by the price for the first license. It will definitely not be a multi million dollar deal it might not even reach 100k but it will prove that the idea works and the first one is always the hardest. $TIG.

β«οΈ What is The End Game?
Lets imagine $TIG ten years from now..
The model actually works.. there are hundreds of challenges covering..
AI.. Logistics.. Energy.. Manufacturing.. Medicine.. Cryptography.. Science.. and entirely new areas we haven't even considered yet
Researchers are competing.. Universities are participating.. companies are funding problems they want solved
AI agents run experiments around the clock.. benchmarkers continuously test which algorithms are best..
Weak methods continue to disappear.. while better ones gain adoption
Major breakthroughs become Advances.. and every successful discovery adds to $TIG's growing library of knowledge and intellectual property
Businesses license the algorithms that actually create value.. the commercial demand funds more research..
This attracts more talent.. more compute.. and more AI agents looking for the next breakthrough
The entire network becomes better at producing innovation over time
At that point..
Calling $TIG a cryptocurrency would be like calling Amazon a website
Its technically true.. but its completely missing what it became and the true scale or things
$TIG would look more like a global marketplace for algorithmic intelligence
A system where humans and AI compete to solve valuable problems..
Where better ideas are rewarded.. where useful discoveries become commercial assets.. and where capital can continuously flow back into creating the next generation of breakthroughs
It would no longer be just a crypto network..
It would arguably be one of the worlds most powerful and important networks

Imagine telling a scientist in 1990 that in 2026 the most reliable funding for open research would come from a token on a blockchain.
OpenAI raised $110B and open sourced... nothing. $TAO runs 129 subnets anyone can fork. $TIG publishes every winning algorithm.
The open networks took the talent. Tracking @tigfoundation here, really promising

Last weekβs space covered the future of open AI, progress on Prometheus, mining pools, and some changes to TIGβs marketing and communications.
Thereβs a common thread running through it: keeping the source of new intelligence open.
