From @TOenviro's @HowSenChong: "The radio silence on our city’s biggest environmental priorities from half the major candidates for mayor is not normal, and should be ringing alarm bells. Whoever is elected will be leading our city through countless extreme weather events..."

“The cost to the taxpayer here is huge,” cycling lawyer Dave Shellnutt said in a statement released ahead of Tuesday’s demonstration. “We are ripping out safe infrastructure that the premier’s own internal reporting shows won’t help congestion.”
Advocacy for Respect for Cyclists says an all-out two-wheeled protest is planned on a stretch of Bloor Street West between Islington and Royal York to “disrupt, or try to make it difficult” for the bike lanes to be removed. toronto.citynews.ca/2026/10/…

MEDIA: TEA strongly opposes the Province's short-sighted plans to begin ripping out the Bloor bike lane: loom.ly/CWkKK6s "Ripping it out will send cyclists either back into cars, or to the hospital - and will increase pollution” -@HowSenChong

We've released the results of our transit policy survey! We asked all mayoral & council candidates about their commitments to improving transit. Of the leading mayoral candidates, only Olivia Chow completed our survey; Chris Alexander made a platform commitment to hike fares

Election fact check: Any suggestion that Toronto can create a new water utility and have full control over water bills is not factual. According to the Water & Wastewater Public Corporations Act, 2025, Toronto wouldn't approve its own water rates - the Housing Minister would.

Time for some election fact checking on Toronto's water budget. We heard a claim from candidate Brad Bradford today that implied that the City's capital reserve fund for water infrastructure (sewers, pipes, & water treatment) is unnecessary. This is dangerous & short-sighted. 1/4

Some seriously good fact-checking here, and also as someone who dug into the City's waste budget I can back up his analysis on #5: Recycling bins (I know, my work is very exciting.....)
Over the weekend, the Bradford campaign challenged the media to do this "scavenger hunt" to uncover supposed places where Olivia Chow frittered away the provincial New Deal money. Challenge accepted. From my newsletter this week, here’s what I found.

Lots of posts about Minister of Emergency Preparedness Jill Dunlop's wild behaviour in abandoning a CBC interview live on the air. But it's worth listening to the whole thing - starts around 1:45 - she admits to not having spoken to a single evacuee. cbc.ca/listen/live-radio/1-2…

✈️ Think Premier Ford controls whether jets come to the Island Airport? Think again. As @canadagray points out, that decision belongs to the federal government — and its Toronto MPs. Read our full breakdown & take action here: environmentaldefence.ca/2026… #CdnPoli #ONpoli #TOpoli

This is exactly why we need a bylaw setting a maximum temperature in rental units. And strong enforcement of current bylaws that say landlords must keep AC/cooling in working order if they have it. This could get dangerous. cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/c…

BREAKING: City Council has voted to accelerate the development of a Maximum Temperature Bylaw from 2028 to June, 2027. The climate is getting hotter. After years of work by TEA and our allies, we are relieved to see a faster timeline.
