'i/o as a potential album title has long-been known within fan circles... it's been around for a long time as a title for this project. I always knew I was going to write a song called i/o, but the title came first.' -pg

‘i/o means input / output. You see it on the back of a lot of electrical equipment and it just triggered some ideas about the stuff we put in and pull out of ourselves, in physical and non-physical ways. That was the starting point of this idea and then trying to talk about the interconnectedness of everything. The older I get, I probably don't get any smarter, but I have learned a few things and it makes a lot of sense to me that we are not these independent islands that we like to think we are, that we are part of a whole. If we can see ourselves as better connected, still messed up individuals, but as part of a whole, then maybe there's something to learn?’ - PG

‘I’ve always loved film music and at age seventeen I had the choice to go to the London School of Film Technique or following a career as a musician, and it was quite a difficult decision for me. Ever since, I’ve always wanted to work more in film, not so much at the acting end of it, but more in the creating side. When I had an invitation from Alan Parker to work on ‘Birdy’ that was very exciting for me. Both he and Scorsese, who I worked with on ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’, are musical directors who really care and feel the music they work with.'-pg

“Gorilla Tactics is the remarkable journey of an inveterate hustler, moving from the universe of Arthur C. Clarke to the volcanoes of Virunga. Greg Cummings pursues the very rich and the very famous, always for one single goal, his passion and raison d’être, the survival of the gorilla. This is an extraordinary account of an extraordinary life.” - pg
Due to climate change and poaching, only a few hundred mountain gorillas remain, restricted to just two isolated highland areas in the border region of Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo. Since there are none in captivity, their future depends on their survival in the wild. Greg Cummings was proud, if a little apprehensive, to be signed in 1991 as the executive director of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund UK. In less than two years, he’d gone from West End bartender to executive director of an international organization devoted to saving “the greatest of the great apes,” @gorillaland

‘I had spent a long time thinking about how you bridge the border between performer and audience. I used to open shows walking through the audience with lights or drums, or I’d sing numbers from the furthest seat from the stage, all sorts of things, and I thought actually maybe the ultimate thing you could do as a performer would be to fall backwards off the stage and, except for a couple of times - one of which I think was in San Francisco where the audience kindly cleared a space for me to do whatever it was I was going to do - it worked very well’ - PG
