It is a full 9°C colder across the world today than the 24°C global average over the past 485 million years (Judd et al., Science 2024).
So how could we have been facing an existential global warming threat? Earth is not even remotely facing runaway warming now or in the near future, and reaching the dramatic prediction of a 5.5°C rise by 2100 is virtually impossible.
The climate crisis narrative was built upon this predicted warming scenario, which is now widely acknowledged by scientists as implausible. First introduced in 2011 to guide policy, this extreme scenario - known as RCP8.5 (and later SSP5-8.5) - served as the primary engine for terrifying 'business-as-usual' headlines for over a decade.
Those apocalyptic projections simply did not occur.
Traditional hydrocarbon fuels supply roughly 81% of primary global energy, yet global carbon emissions have structurally flattened. Meanwhile, wind and solar account for only around 6.5% of total primary energy.
With the retirement of the extreme 5°C baseline ahead of the 7th Assessment Report (AR7), the ceiling for high-emissions projections has dropped significantly, with proposed high-end baselines downgraded toward a maximum around 3.3°C.
One lesson is that modestly rising CO₂ concentrations do not automatically trigger runaway temperatures. We have seen this in worldwide greening identified by NASA satellites.
Carbon dioxide remains a trace atmospheric gas - around 420 parts per million - making it among the lowest concentrations in geological history, while the atmosphere is over 99% nitrogen, oxygen, and argon, with water vapor exceeding CO₂ many times over.
This deceptive original scenario - promoted heavily through the United Nations - became the primary justification for Net Zero. It forced the premature decline of reliable energy systems across Western nations, leading to widespread economic strain and a massive transfer of industrial capacity to Beijing.
China now manufactures the vast majority of the world's wind turbines, solar panels, and critical battery components, powered largely by the world's largest fleet of coal-fired power stations. China produces over half the world's steel and accounts for nearly a third of all human-caused CO₂ emissions.
The old fear narrative - 'We are on track for a 5°C apocalypse if we don't immediately upend the global economy' - is finally dead.

THE ILLUSION OF FREE SPEECH.
Why so many people, especially Americans rooted in Constitutional originalism, look at British and European speech laws with deep distrust.
When you break down the philosophy behind how speech is handled on both sides of the Atlantic, the divergence comes down to who holds the power to decide what is acceptable:
1. The American Model vs. The European Model
• The First Amendment Approach: The U.S. Constitution treats speech as an inherent natural right designed specifically to protect uncomfortable, offensive, or anti-establishment ideas.
• The core principle is simple: the greatest danger is giving the government the power to define what "bad speech" is, because any administration will eventually use that power to silence its political rivals or suppress dissent.
• The European/British Approach: In the U.K. and mainland Europe, rights are framed through a regulatory balancing act. The state views its job as "balancing" free expression against public order, social cohesion, and preventing harm. This is where laws restricting speech, whether through criminalizing offensive online comments, broad hate speech statutes, or public order acts, come into play.
2. The Danger of State-Sanctioned "Truth"
When a state grants itself the legal authority to police speech, it inherently creates a system where questioning the government’s narrative carries severe risks.
• Guarded Speech:Under broad speech or public order laws, citizens hesitate to challenge official storylines, question state-backed science, or criticize government motives out of fear of legal prosecution or harassment.
• The "Protection" Pretext: History consistently demonstrates that authoritarian regimes rarely censor speech by admitting they want to suppress truth. They almost always do so under the banner of "protecting the public," "maintaining order," or "preventing misinformation."
3. Media Dependency and the Trust Deficit
Coupling state-regulated speech with state-funded or heavily regulated media organizations like the BBC creates a closed ecosystem:
1. State-funded outlets set the baseline narrative using government background briefings.
2. Restrictive speech laws disincentivize independent journalists or citizens on the ground from forcefully challenging that narrative.
3. The result is a severe loss of public trust, the exact reason you express total skepticism toward statements coming out of London.
When a government controls both the funding mechanisms of major media outlets and the legal boundaries of what citizens are permitted to say without facing police scrutiny, it strips away the essential friction necessary for a free society.
Without an uninhibited, unpunished right to challenge official state claims, the line between a free democracy and a managed state narrative becomes dangerously thin.
Tensions between London, and Tehran escalated today as British officials formally attributed a disrupted plot near a key airbase to Iranian state operatives. Addressing lawmakers in Parliament, Prime Minister Andy Burnham stated that a security incident targeting RAF Fairford was "highly likely" coordinated from Tehran and "almost certainly" directed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The Gloucestershire airbase serves as a major forward operating hub for American heavy bombers. Armed police and bomb disposal teams rushed to the rural area late last month following reports of suspicious activity, leading to local evacuations. Investigators subsequently seized three vans containing a quantity of gasoline accelerants, though no live explosives were recovered.
Seven individuals, predominantly British nationals alongside a dual U.K.-Iranian citizen, have been arrested in connection with the inquiry. All suspects remain out on police bail while counter-terrorism detectives continue their investigation into state-backed criminal networks.
The diplomatic fallout was immediate. The Foreign Office summoned the Iranian ambassador in London to issue a formal rebuke over what ministers characterized as ongoing efforts to undermine national security. Meanwhile, the U.S. military withdrew its strategic bombers from RAF Fairford over heightened force protection concerns, signaling deep anxiety in Washington over the safety of American personnel and assets stationed at the facility.
Following President Trump's announcement declaring an immediate "energy ceasefire" between Russia and Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that while Kyiv supports the principle of a mutual halt to strikes on energy infrastructure, Russian forces have continued launching attacks.
Zelenskyy noted that the initial announcement of a full energy truce came as a surprise, though Ukraine has consistently expressed willingness to stop targeting Russian energy assets if Moscow does the same.
Despite the announcement
• Continued Russian Strikes: Ukrainian officials reported multiple Russian strikes on power facilities, including electricity generation and transmission infrastructure in Kharkiv, shortly after the announcement.
• Disparities in Targets: Emerging reports suggest negotiations may specifically concern oil refinery infrastructure rather than broader electrical grid facilities, leading to differing interpretations between the involved parties.
• Next Steps: Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are monitoring the situation and awaiting clarification on the specific details agreed upon between U.S. and Russian officials regarding how the proposed truce will be enforced.
Hurricane Simon continues to pose a serious threat to Mexico's west-central coast. While the storm reached Category 4 intensity over the weekend, it slowly weakened to a Category 3 system as its center moved parallel to the coastline near Cabo Corrientes.
Torrential rainfall remains the primary hazard across coastal states. Torrential downpours have triggered localized flooding, rising river levels, and severe mudslide warnings across Michoacán, Colima, Jalisco, and Nayarit.
Current Impact and Conditions
• Severe Flooding: Heavy rains flooded homes and streets in port cities like Manzanillo, forcing local emergency crews and military personnel to assist in rescue and Sandbag operations. Authorities in Jalisco and Colima have opened temporary shelters to house residents displaced by rising waters.
• Resort Closures: In popular tourist hubs like Puerto Vallarta, municipal authorities closed boardwalks, suspended public transportation, and issued shelter-in-place orders. Non-essential public activities across four coastal states have been halted.
• Extreme Rainfall Totals: Meteorologists warn that isolated areas in steep terrain could receive up to 30 inches (760 mm) of total rainfall before the storm completely dissipates, creating extreme risks for landslides and flash flooding.
Projected Path and Outlook
Forecasters expect Simon to maintain hurricane strength as it turns slightly inland across west-central Mexico toward midweek. While the storm will continue a gradual weakening trend over land, rapid decay is anticipated once the system interacts with the high terrain of western Mexico.
Even after weakening, moisture pulled inland from the remnants of Hurricane Simon is projected to move northeast toward the U.S. Southern Plains later in the week, bringing the potential for heavy rainfall across portions of Texas and Oklahoma. Mexican federal officials continue to urge all residents in coastal and mountainous areas to remain sheltered until local authorities issue an all-clear.
NEW FOOTAGE
The evening quiet in a residential suburb outside Kharkiv was shattered when a Russian missile strike directly hit a local grocery store and surrounding neighborhood streets. Newly released surveillance footage captures the harrowing final moments before the blast, documenting ordinary civilian life abruptly cut short in an instant.
The attack resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left dozens of others injured. Among the dead are a 16-year-old boy who was captured on video riding his scooter down the street just moments before the impact, and a store employee who had stepped outside for a brief breath of fresh air. A 19-year-old woman and a 51-year-old woman were also among those confirmed killed by regional officials.
Emergency services and medical response teams rushed to the scene as the strike ignited a fierce blaze that engulfed several vehicles parked near the commercial building. Local authorities reported that the number of wounded climbed to at least 25 people, including young children who required urgent medical intervention for shrapnel wounds and blast trauma.
First responders and law enforcement units continue to document the devastation and clear the wreckage, classifying the targeted residential area and commercial site as another stark example of the daily dangers faced by civilians near the front lines.
BREAKING NEWS: Federal authorities with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted an early morning search of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) Washington-area residence on Monday as part of an active federal criminal fraud investigation.
According to sources familiar with the ongoing matter and reporting confirmed by the Department of Justice, the enforcement action centers on a review of immigration documentation executed decades ago by the congresswoman's late father during her childhood.
HSI agents executed a judicially authorized search warrant coordinated alongside the Department of Justice. Representatives for Rep. Omar have not immediately responded to requests for comment regarding the raid or the scope of the federal inquiry.

Ship 40 sat in the Indian Ocean for weeks after its soft splashdown drifting with the currents while crews tracked it and fought the weather to keep it from sinking.
Tugs finally pulled it to calmer water near Christmas Island where teams inspected the heatshield and loaded it onto the big transport ship Forte.
That vessel then carried it on a long slow sail halfway around the world dodging storms and covering thousands of miles until it reached the Port of Brownsville.
Once there the scorched vehicle was rolled off and moved overnight along the road to the Starbase Production Site.
The whole trip took about 75 days from launch to home and now the first Starship ever recovered from the ocean sits back where it was built ready for a close look at what the flight really did to it.

Utah Voters: Let’s clear the air on Amendment B.
There’s a lot of political noise out there trying to spin this measure, but the actual text is simple.
What Amendment B does: It changes the voting threshold strictly for citizen-led tax increase initiatives from a simple majority (50% + 1) to a 60% supermajority.
That’s it. It doesn't block citizen initiatives, and it doesn't touch non-tax measures. If an initiative wants to raise or expand taxes on Utah families and household budgets, it just needs broader consensus (60%) to pass.
Raising taxes shouldn't pass on a razor-thin margin—it should have overwhelming support.
The Ministry of External Affairs condemned recent strikes targeting commercial shipping near the Strait of Hormuz, where two separate attacks left two Indian seafarers missing.
The commercial tanker MT PETRO DOLPHIN was struck by a drone while anchored off Sohar, Oman, with 11 Indian seafarers aboard. Local coast guard and search-and-rescue teams successfully rescued nine crew members, while operations remain underway to locate the two missing Indian nationals.
In a secondary incident in the region, the Marshall Islands-flagged tanker MT VALTHERA was hit by an unknown projectile, causing an onboard fire. All 11 Indian crew members aboard the MT VALTHERA were safely accounted for.
The Indian Embassy in Muscat is actively coordinating with Omani maritime authorities and ship management firms to assist crew members and support rescue operations. Reaffirming its stance on regional safety, official statements emphasized that recurring strikes on merchant shipping risk destabilizing maritime corridors, calling for immediate de-escalation, respect for international navigation laws, and an end to attacks on commercial vessels.

A judge slaps down New York State.
BREAKING NEWS
A federal judge ruled that New York cannot enforce a 2024 state law that sought to force fossil fuel companies to contribute $75 billion over 25 years into a fund to pay for damage caused by climate change
Five people, including four children, were found dead on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in an apartment in Richmond, Cache County, Utah, following an apparent carbon monoxide poisoning incident.
Emergency responders and deputies arrived at the triplex apartment complex around 12:15 p.m. after neighbors reported hearing carbon monoxide alarms sounding for an extended period. A neighbor who entered the unit discovered an adult male deceased in the garage near a vehicle that was running. First responders then entered the home and located four additional deceased victims inside.
The victims identified by the Cache County Sheriff's Office include:
• A 43-year-old man
• A 16-year-old boy
• A 12-year-old girl
• An 11-year-old boy
• A 5-year-old girl
Carbon monoxide levels inside the residence were exceptionally high, exceeding the maximum reading limit on fire department detection equipment. First responders evacuated the adjoining units in the triplex, and one adult male from a neighboring apartment was transported to a local hospital for potential carbon monoxide exposure.
The Cache County Sheriff's Office indicated that preliminary observations point to a tragic accident, and an investigation into the exact source and circumstances remains ongoing.
Everybody, get a carbon monoxide detector.

We should expect our ocean world to be warming in some places and cooling in others. This is exactly what should happen in the latter stages of an interglacial warm period stretching back 11,700 years.
After all, this is the predictable architecture of an ice age cycle lasting 2.58 million years. Regional weather patterns across climate zones worldwide are part of Earth’s permanent state of natural variability - not, as they are now presented, as symbols of runaway overheating. This variability is simply the natural ebb and flow of local weather, not a smoking gun.
The world is in recovery mode from a protracted period of aridity and plant decline, which was marked by the rise of savannas across Africa and the retreat of global jungles and forests. Today, many marginal regions are becoming greener, a rebound confirmed by NASA satellite data. We should be seeing confirmation of this recovery in daily weather reports, but we don't.
Instead, weather broadcasts are drenched in shocking blood-reds, oranges, and purples. Look at this map of France — every forecast screams extreme. No wonder the public is beginning to tune out of this monotonous state of artificial crisis.
The UN-led climate franchise has greatly overstepped its original post-WWII design to prevent global conflict. A conglomerate of globalist interests is now driving a massive transfer of wealth on the back of a manufactured climate crisis.
Modestly rising CO₂ does not mean soaring temperatures will follow and it remains a trace atmospheric gas; the atmosphere is over 99% nitrogen, oxygen, and argon, with water vapor exceeding CO₂ many times over.
At around 420 parts per million, today's level is still among the lowest concentrations in Earth's history. As illustrated in the radiative forcing curve, atmospheric CO₂ warming is strictly logarithmic. Each additional molecule has less radiative impact than the one before it — a reality the scientific community acknowledges in its core equations.
Every doubling of CO₂ produces a constantly diminishing increment of energy absorption. This is the fundamental physics they stay silent about.
CO₂ plunged to near-asphyxiation levels for plants (190 ppm) during the Last Glacial Maximum 20,000 years ago, perilously close to the 150 ppm threshold where plant life dies.
Nature is restoring the balance, not destroying it. We can see that inbuilt resilience in action once more. The planet is greener today than it was 20 years ago, as confirmed by satellite studies of vegetation shifts from NASA and the European Space Agency.
This greening trend is continuing and expanding, with up to 70% attributed directly to higher CO₂ levels.
