Milo’s got his school bestie over for tea for the first time. Now they are having a Friday night disco in his room. I’m totally here for it.
As usual today I spent some time discussing what we are having for dinner on my family WhatsApp group. I’m now watching Julia. As much as I revel in discussing a good book or a band that I love, what I most find comfort in or connects me with others is the joy of food.
Just got tickets for the launch of Southend-on-Zine eventbrite.com/e/southend-on… looking foward to it @sprialseed @SydMoore1 @timburrows
Helping out at a school friend of Milos family fundraiser today - tbh it’s been no real hardship. Currently blaring out two tone, ska and Motown hits in the (now) glorious warm sun.

When I change the sheets I sing "It's a nice day for some clean bedding" in the style of Billy Idol
Took my 12 year old niece for a pier walk, coffee & cake and Peter Pans theme park today for an aunt & niece birthday treat. When I broached the subject of lunch she request sushi. Back in the day I’d have been thrilled with a Maccy Ds! But I love the girl’s love of food.
Every ruddy time I pack up the books and vinyl I say “sod this, I’m giving them all to the chazza!” Two mins later I’m like “ohh I forgot I had this” and end up down some lovely rabbit hole. Thus is the blight/beauty of any collector.

If Essex man's heart is in Basildon or Billericay, his soul could be said to be in Southend. Me on the unbearable lightness of the seaside settlement's newfound city status for @NewStatesman (£) newstatesman.com/politics/uk…
Today my 6 year old named his make believe cafe “watch out food is about!” Ever since I’ve been thinking about pitching a TV show, where food related pranks are played on unsuspecting members of the public in a fake cafe somewhere.

Downing street lit up in Ukrainian colours whilst suspending visa's for Ukrainian nationals. If you want a real example of "virtue signaling" that is it!
Knowing how much Rye and I love food, his colleague Lei Lei made us her Malaysian Chicken Curry. Spicy and aromatic with lemongrass, it was so good I’m already thinking about the leftovers for lunch.
Got myself one of those mini bottles of red wine to enjoy on the train. Forgot the cup. Do I drink it straight from the bottle?
