In Kaberamaido, climate action starts young!
We're not just planting trees, we're empowering children with the skills of "tree growing," treating seedlings like vital crops.
This education builds long-term resilience and secures their future against drought and floods.

Not every disability is visible. That doesn't make it any less real.
Let's challenge assumptions, stop judging people by appearances and ensure everyone can access the support they need without stigma.
You don't have to see a disability to respect someone's experience.

This was what we used to do in our childhood lives, it was very normal practice and once we get back from school after a meal coz we had not meals at school back then(at around 4:30pm) we would head to the garden and do something
Transforming agriculture across Eastern & Central Africa! 🌾✨
Says @ASARECA Programme Officer for Capacity Strengthening @blaiseamony : @ASARECA is advancing agroecology by scaling up Azolla—a climate-smart, nutrient-rich aquatic fern that serves as a high-protein bio-fertilizer and livestock feed.
By leveraging expert research from @RAB_Rwanda and NARO Uganda, this initiative drives cross-border knowledge sharing, reduces reliance on expensive chemical inputs, and strengthens farmer resilience in Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and Somalia. 🌍🌱

For members of the Abirabira–Bed Kede Amara CLA, change begins with looking out for one another.
Since 2023, they have been speaking up against GBV, following up on girls who have dropped out of school and encouraging women to save, learn new skills and earn an income.
One member told us how learning tailoring helped her start her own business and pay her children’s school fees.
There are still challenges, but seeing more women confidently speak about the issues affecting them is a change the group is proud of.
Vincent Okello wakes up early to work in the garden before heading to school. In the evening, he returns to the garden to help his family.
Since joining the youth group in 2022, Vincent has learned ways of earning an income and has seen how access to group loans can help meet needs such as school fees.
Now in Primary 7, Vincent has big ambitions: “I love science and maths. I would like to be a doctor when I finish school.”

South Sudan Celebrates International Literacy Day 2026
Today, the Ministry of General Education and Instruction, together with education partners, joined the global community in commemorating International Literacy Day in Gulyar, Awerial County, Lakes State, under the theme:
"Literacy for People, Planet, and Prosperity."
The celebration brought together government leaders, learners from 14 schools, teachers, parents, local authorities, and development partners to promote the transformative power of literacy through speeches, poetry, drama, and community awareness activities.
Literacy is the foundation of learning, empowerment, and opportunity. As South Sudan works to improve access to quality education, special focus is being placed on foundational learning, girls' education, and the use of digital tools to strengthen reading and writing skills.
Despite progress, challenges remain. An estimated 2.8 million children are out of school, with girls disproportionately affected. Through stronger partnerships and investment in education, we can ensure every child has the opportunity to learn and thrive.
Together, let's build a literate, inclusive, and prosperous South Sudan.

The 2026 BWA Vulnerability Index highlights the challenging realities faced by Baptists in some of the world’s most vulnerable countries. 13.1 million Baptists—25% of the BWA’s 53 million Baptists—are living in countries experiencing the most significant levels of vulnerability. These are more than statistics. They represent our global Baptist family.
For Arago Teddy, the impact goes beyond farming.
Through her farmer group and SHG, Teddy has learned improved farming practices, saves regularly and accesses loans that have helped her pay her children’s school fees, invest in goats and run a small business.
She also serves as a child monitor for the Idwe Olelo Children Club, regularly engaging 25 children and others from her community on child rights, good conduct and positive values.
Her story shows how strengthening livelihoods can contribute to stronger families and improved child wellbeing.
From 13 groups with 233 members, farmers in Gwetom A are working together to turn agriculture into a business.
Through improved agronomic practices, access to quality planting materials and collective marketing, farmers are growing crops including cassava, simsim, sunflower and maize as their value-chain crops.
They have also established a SACCO to strengthen saving and access to finance.
Despite this progress, farmers highlighted challenges including prolonged droughts, limited access to quality seeds, fluctuating produce prices and the lack of a proper bulking facility.
Today, we were pleased to host a team from Baptist World Aid Australia (BWAA) at our Kaberamaido Field Office for a support visit.
The visit comes at an important stage of the project as it approaches its final year of implementation. It provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress made, engage with the project team, and discuss efforts towards improving child wellbeing and strengthening families and communities in Kaberamaido.
We appreciate BWAA’s continued partnership and support as we work towards sustaining the gains made and ensuring lasting positive change for children and their communities.

A wheelchair is part of someone’s personal space—not public property. ♿
Before you push, move, or "help," remember the golden rule: Always ask first.
What feels like a helpful gesture to you can strip away autonomy and feel unsafe to someone else.
Respect independence!

Our publication in News Network Africa highlights how prolonged drought, land degradation and climate change are worsening food insecurity and malnutrition in Karamoja.
As the region continues to face a devastating hunger crisis, climate action must go beyond global commitments and policy discussions. It must translate into meaningful, locally driven solutions that address food insecurity, land degradation, water scarcity and the growing impacts of climate change.
