Very proud to be part of this incredible team 🙂
We’re delighted to share that the School of Education at St Mary’s has once again retained its Ofsted Outstanding rating in all categories for Primary and Secondary Initial Teacher Training!

Doesn’t seem so long ago that we were meeting this lot for the first time & here they are, 10 months later, fully fledged Early Career Teachers ready to fly! We are very proud of them & very, very tired 😂

So proud of my merry band of Y2 music students who taught some lovely lessons in school today. Primary music should be irresistible for children & the little girl who didn’t want to stop for lunch because her lesson was ‘too much fun’ proved that, today, it was! @TeachStMarys
I LOVE this! Children’s worlds are often so full of noise that it’s hard for them to properly listen. Inspired activity by a teacher who is spot on in understanding the value of doing it 🙂

Unbelievably proud of this legend who inspires me daily with her wisdom, knowledge & kindness 🙂
Thank you @moffat_andrew for talking to our PGCE cohort about @NoOutsidersUK this week. Any setting looking for content on inclusion & diversity should look at his work. Vital messages told via a narrative of lived experience; engaging, passionate & important. @TeachStMarys
Actually bit gutted about this. Where’s the evidence to suggest these programmes don’t have ‘high impact’?
BBC cancels #Autumnwatch to focus on shows with "highest impact"

Too early?! 1st year Primary Education students got Christmas-y today responding through drawing to Prokofiev’s ‘Troika’. I love how this student marks the beat with dots (which represent snow). Great activity for assessing musical understanding! @TeachStMarys
Art, drama, languages and geography to become ‘preserve of private schools’ as state sector cuts bite theguardian.com/education/20…
Yes! A powerful message touching on many of the key ideas we share with our primary education students. The expressive arts are for everyone & their value needs to be explored with children from the earliest age. @TeachStMarys @JaninePavlisDT @letsjustwaitfor @MarkGriffin1970
'The idea that these things are middle-class or posh is a national tragedy!'
James O'Brien is furious at those who make enjoying the arts 'elitist' in this passionate rant about the 'magic of art and culture'.

Susannah Robert retweeted
Part of the educational review commissioned by Labour, published today, reads “Ensuring that art and design, drama and music subjects, as well as “cultural experiences”, are available to all students and can be “built on into adult life and creative work opportunities””
Yes!! 😃
Devastating news for Greenwich & education system as a whole. The suggestion that the CCF has regulated teacher training to the extent that it makes no difference which route into the profession you take is utter rubbish IMO @educationgovuk @TeachStMarys

Why I love teaching in one tweet 😍🎶
Today, whilst questioning, I told a kid to:
‘Tell me why.’
But I sang it Backstreet Boys style.
Half the class replied, in sync, with:
‘Ain’t nothin’ but a heartache…’
Then we continued the lesson as if nothing happened and this is why I became a teacher.

Big smiles, big creativity & big noise in primary PGCE music sessions today! Some fantastic composition using a story as a starting point 📚🎶🥁 #primarypgce #primarymusic #creativity #composition

Induction for our new #primarypgce students ✅. It’s fantastic to be on campus as a FULL cohort! I’d forgotten how lovely the sound of 150 people singing together could be - and yes, I did make them sing on day 2 of the course!! Now: feet up & wine 🙂.
@TeachStMarys
The Primary PGCE team welcomed some of September’s new cohort to campus yesterday for a morning of PE, storytelling, maths trails & musical notation (using animals!). Nobody ran for the hills (!) so we look forward to seeing them all back on 1/9/22! @TeachStMarys
Calling all year 2 teachers!!! Any great activities the first couple of days of the new term? @TeachStMarys
