Newcastle women refused to be silenced.
Great thanks to @HistoriaHWA and @novelcarolyn for this highly insightful - and really lovely - interview.
In the 1640s "women, of necessity, had extraordinary freedoms," says @adberginwriter, author of The Wicked of the Earth.
"Accusations of witchcraft were a uniquely effective method of silencing women."
