My progressive values are intact. I will never side with a terrorist organization that literally calls for the killing of Jews, violently oppresses/persecutes LGBTQ+ individuals, and systematically discriminates against women.
This.
I think Muslims need to understand something uncomfortable.
Non-Muslims do not owe Muhammad their respect. They do not believe he was a prophet, and some do not even consider him a good man. You can disagree with them, but you cannot demand that they see him the way you do.
Your reverence for someone does not create an obligation for the rest of the world to revere him.
So, are we going to kill everyone who insults Muhammad, or are we going to learn to practise our religion in a world where not everyone shares our beliefs?
Because the world is not going to become Muslim just to protect our feelings.
We have two choices: learn to live with our differences or spend our lives fighting a world we cannot control.
You cannot force people to love your prophet by making them afraid to criticise him. You can only teach them to fear those who claim to love him.
Well fucking said, @Howard_Lovy. As a lifelong Democrat myself, critical thinking trumps “for the greater good” any day of the week. We cannot be bullied into voting for people that go against our values. Free thought and the right to dissent are worth defending. Onward & upward.
I'm a Michigan voter, a Jew, and a lifelong Democrat who will not be voting for Abdul El-Sayed. He supports the most repressive, fascist, genocidal regimes in the Middle East because they oppose Israel, which contains half the world's Jews.
Telling me to vote for him "for the greater good" would be akin to telling a Black voter to support a member of the Klan.
El-Sayed may speak the language of progressives, but he has only one agenda, and it isn't free stuff for everybody ... or whatever.
History lesson: The Islamist/socialist partnership in the Iranian Revolution ended with the socialists executed along with the Jews.
This is Trump’s economy.
Where a capitalist economy has failed is in teaching its citizens, from a young age, on financial literacy. I don’t opine on socialist economies because they’re shite.
BREAKING: A record 21.2% of new-car buyers now pay $1,000 or more a month, up from 19.1% a year ago, per CNBC
69% of them took loans of six years or longer to make it work.

Robert Greene was right when he said:
“Always stick to what makes you weird, odd, strange, different. That’s your source of power.”
