#MadhyaPradesh's 20-year-old college student Surendra Singh Choudhary-better known to the country as "#BittuTabahi"-is a dejected man. Bittu, who hogged international limelight for single-handedly cleaning up a stretch of Ajnar river in Rajgarh's Biaora, says every time he cleans up the river, people dump garbage back into it-sometimes almost immediately.

Animal welfare group People for Animals has strongly criticised the Centre’s draft 2026 laboratory animal rules, alleging they weaken central oversight by allowing institutions to self-approve mild and moderate experiments on larger animals. indianexpress.com/article/in…

Goa be like:
Dogs on beaches?
MENACE. REMOVE THEM.
Humans leaving behind beer bottles, plastic, food waste and mountains of garbage? Oh, thats TOURISM.
The species that pollutes the oceans, destroys habitats and turns beaches into dumping grounds has somehow appointed itself the judge of which species deserves to exist there.
Imagine being the biggest ecological menace on the planet and having the audacity to call a dog a menace.
The hypocrisy is almost impressive.

While authorities claim clearances are met, treating sentient wildlife as movable temple property must end.

'yes' I do indubitably feel safe with dogs on our streets: they are after all nature's incontrovertible protectors. Perceptions aside, our kinship and coexistence with dogs for over 40,000 years is testament to the incomparable protection presence and providence they lend us.

Mumbai, Maharashtra: Environmentalist and former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi says, “In 2018, the government made a law that no pet shop could operate. But Mumbai’s Crawford Market is full of them. More than 10 lakh parrots are sold in the country, while small lovebirds, cockatiels and other birds stolen from New Zealand and Australia are being brought here...”

A tigress dies en route to the Nagpur rescue centre after being captured in Amravati, MH.
Reports claim forest teams used two tranquiliser darts. Was the dosage scientifically monitored? Did the operation strictly adhere to NTCA SOPs for big cat captures, or was it a fatal over-darting?
When habitats are systematically fragmented, wildlife is pushed into farmlands. But poor capture execution and recurring post-darting deaths cannot be brushed aside as collateral damage. Both human lives lost in these fringe zones and the life of this majestic animal are tragic outcomes of systemic failure.
We need transparent accountability, post-mortem disclosure, and answers from the Maharashtra Forest Department. Why not establish laws to punish encroachment in eco sensitive areas? Why always an animal needs to pay with its life ?

We keep calling it development while cutting into mountains, damming rivers and gambling with fragile Himalayan ecosystems.
Sikkim is asking the Centre to learn from Nepal and rethink hydropower projects.
How many disasters, warnings and broken ecosystems will it take before we realise that not every river needs to be controlled and not every mountain needs to be exploited?

Thank you, Ejaj Bhai, for showing such love, kindness and compassion towards this beautiful soul. ❤️🐾
Your sweet gesture is truly heartwarming. I hope your kindness reaches millions and inspires more people to be gentle, considerate and compassionate towards community animals.
They may not have a voice, but they feel love, pain and kindness just like us. Let’s be kinder to them. 🙏❤️

The youngest victims of the pig industry👺12 -15% of piglets are born dead or die straight after birth. The weak ones are killed by smashing them dead on the concrete. I saw and recorded hundreds of dead piglets in the #Netherlands on the roadside in underground cellars in one day. Every day they are collected and destroyed ..this is an ongoing atrocity. #EndAnimalAgriculture #EndAnimalExploitation #LiveVegan the only right way to end your participation ✌️

Today, I saw a video of indie dogs being transported in trucks in Maharashtra.
And all I could think about was Ohh My Dog.
A reality we watched on screen suddenly feels like it is playing out in real life. Right here, in Maharashtra.
I have always been proud to call myself a Mumbaikar. But if innocent dogs can be packed into trucks and trafficked through my state, while those in power remain silent, that pride becomes very difficult to hold onto.
Dear @AUThackeray you have always spoken about your compassion and love for animals. So where is your voice now?
Where are these dogs being taken? Who is behind this? Why are they being transported like this? Is there a dog-meat trafficking network involved?*
Is this really what we have come down to?
I just hope that, like Ohh My Dog, these innocent dogs get their happy ending too.

Why isnt human lover aka protector not raising the voice against Indias being the top in the number of cancer cases?
It took just 48 hours for Karnataka to roll back its ban on gutka and tobacco-containing pan masala.
The rationale? MLAs pushed back, arguing it would hurt arecanut growers.
Lets be honest: pitting farmers’
livelihoods against a public health catastrophe is a failure of policy imagination. India already bears one of the highest burdens of oral cancer in the world, tearing families apart and putting immense financial strain on everyday households.
Protecting our farmers is non-negotiable, but the answer is MSP support, sustainable transitions, and market diversification not keeping carcinogenic products on the shelves to protect profit margins.
When elected representatives lobby to keep harmful products easily accessible, we have to ask: whose well-being comes first?
Public health cannot be a bargaining chip. We need policy courage, not 48-hour surrenders.

To all the dog parents now saying, If the dogs are picked up, lets adopt them, Lets give them to an NGO,or Lets visit the shelter and make sure they’re treated well.
Yes, that may sound like a solution when a dog has a caretaker, an activist fighting for them, or an NGO willing to take responsibility.
But what about the millions of community dogs who have none of that?
What about the dog with no feeder?
No caretaker?
No activist watching over them?
No NGO willing or able to take them in?
Are we going to shelter every single one of them?
We cannot dilute the issue with convenient shortcuts that only work for a handful of dogs.
The issue is not how to make shelters better. The issue is that healthy community dogs should not be removed from the lives they know.
Every animal has the right to live.
Every community dog has the right to exist.
And that right cannot depend on whether someone is privileged enough to have an NGO or activist fighting for them.
We need ONE voice.
SAY NO TO SHELTERS.
SAY NO TO MASS CONFINEMENT.
SAY YES TO THEIR RIGHT TO LIVE FREE.
Our dogs belong on the streets they call home.
Our dogs have the right to live in this country.
