the idea of people being mad about authors going “downloading for personal use is fine, but please don’t reupload it elsewhere for redistribution” is absolutely fucking baffling to me. nobody gets mad at artists for asking for no reuploads lmao
we’re expected to, what, just take it all lying down? the erosion of community in the last few years is exhausting. i’m leaving my fics up and i’ll keep writing but. fuck, dude, i genuinely can’t blame *anybody* for deciding they’re done writing because of All Of This.

Earlier today, we detected evidence of a security incident on #AO3. We are still in the early stages of investigating. No AO3 data has been deleted. All your works, bookmarks, kudos, etc., are safe. Learn more at otwstatus.org/incidents/g12j…
We estimate that service restoration for #AO3 will take around 2 weeks but it could be up to 4 weeks. We are hopeful that we will be able to bring the site back up in a degraded state sooner. Refer to our status page for updates: otwstatus.org/
