On January 27, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin introduced the concept of the "Walkaway Test" at the ETH ChiangMai togETHer Tuesday event, a criterion for assessing whether decentralized applications truly resist reliance on centralized dependencies. Ideally, even if developers or servers were to disappear suddenly, users should still be able to continue using the application.
Vitalik noted that while blockchains themselves are trust-minimized, many applications still follow Web2 architectures that rely on centralized logins and servers, weakening practical decentralization and highlighting a key area for improvement in todayโs decentralized applications.

Evmos announces plans to migrate into an ATOM-secured network on the Cosmos Hub!
The Evmos chain would be one of the first to adopt the newly released Interchain Security V2 feature and make use of the upcoming Hydro liquidity program.
In case you're unfamiliar, ICS V2 allows a subset of all 175 ATOM validators to also validate and secure other chains.
This creates more alignment while simultaneously decreasing operational overhead for validators and improving economic efficiency.
We already know that brand new chains like Elys or Landslide are lined up to deloy as ICS chains, but we are also now seeing more existing Cosmos L1s to migrate and become ATOM secured.
The Evmos core team also proposes using ATOM as the native gas token on the Evmos network, while implementing an EVMOS Burn Auction, modeled on Injective's implementation.
The next steps are going to be two on-chain proposals (first to the Evmos community, then to the Cosmos Hub community) before the migration may occur.
I personally think that this is a great match and win-win scenario both for the Cosmos Hub- as well as the Evmos community.
