I think the startup world has a serious addiction to job titles.
A 12-person company somehow has a CEO, COO, CTO, CMO, CRO, and three VPs.
Congratulations, you’ve built an executive team before you’ve built a business.
I’m all for giving people ownership and responsibility, but titles don’t magically create revenue.
At an early-stage startup, your head of sales should probably still be selling, your head of marketing should still be doing marketing, and your CEO should be doing a little bit of everything.
If everyone is managing and nobody is executing, you’ve got a problem.
You don’t need a C-suite. You need people who actually do the work.
