This is a test export of my recent project RhodopSIN.
RhodopSIN is a desktop research program for embedding precisely controlled flicker and color modulation into video files, and then proving it's actually there. You configure oscillators (frequency, waveform, amplitude, phase) that target brightness, individual RGB channels, or perceptual colour axes like OKLab, over the whole frame or specific regions, and it processes and exports the video at your chosen frame rate and encoding.
This video has a 40 Hz flicker embedded across the whole frame. Five synchronized
sine waves, each at 40 cycles per second and a small amplitude of 0.01, modulate
the picture's brightness, its red-green colour balance, and its red, green, and
blue channels. At the video's 120 frames per second this forms a repeating
3-frame pattern (neutral, brighter/redder, darker/greener) that repeats 40 times
every second, and the encoding was verified to preserve all five signals.
X compression might alter the video from how its supposed to appear.
The future implications of this research is creating profiles that can be used to make a person feel different emotions while watching a video (immersive movies, advertising etc) or even induce ideas or thoughts (needs further exploration).
