Some professional news! I couldn't be more excited to join the incredible team at @WinWithoutWar. The global challenges we face today demand progressive responses, and I'm thrilled to join an organization dedicated to developing truly progressive foreign policy.
We’re thrilled to announce that @samratner will become our new Policy Director! Sam recently worked on security & humanitarian issues in Mozambique and as a journalist, incl. as writer of Critical State newsletter & founding editor of @ftravelersblog. winwithoutwar.org/sam-ratner…

In which the head of ACLED asserts that in the last Tigray conflict, "there was a distinct *anti-Ethiopian* component of the international community":
Why has international support for the #TPLF shifted since the last #Tigray war?
In this episode of Conflicts of Interest, Prof. Clionadh Raleigh, Bron Mills, and ACLED’s Dr. Jalale Getachew Birru discuss how the TPLF's relationship with Western governments and international organizations has changed, and what this means for #Ethiopia’s renewed tensions.

Thats why we’re launching @OnRecordFP. To pull back the curtain on who shapes U.S. foreign policy and what they did with that power. @haaretzcom highlighted ON RECORD today in its coverage of the growing push for accountability:

Washington loves recycling its foreign policy establishment while ignoring the consequences of the policies they shaped. Their records should be scrutinized, not glorified.
. @brett_mcgurk is one of our nation’s great experts on the Middle East and has spent decades working at the highest levels of diplomacy through some of the region’s most consequential moments.
I’m really looking forward to reading Brink and learning from his firsthand account of the extraordinary efforts to free the hostages, and confront the extraordinary challenges of the region.

In a new piece for @CIPolicy, @samratner of grantee @WinWithoutWar argues that addressing the broader risk of nuclear proliferation in the Middle East requires a vision for regional denuclearization.

US policy in the Middle East should center de-nuclearization, not backdoors to proliferation. Our policy director, @samratner, laid out the stakes here:

I wrote on Trump's delusional Saudi nuclear deal, the unfolding nuclear proliferation nightmare that everyone predicted, and how progressives can meet a moment that everyone else seems intent on ducking.
Trump’s proposed Saudi nuclear deal is both a nuclear proliferation risk and a self-enrichment scheme for the Trump family. Congress should reject it, argues @samratner of @winwithoutwar

As you read Akbar's great reporting about the role ODNI played in muting the alarm about Israeli violations, keep in mind that the DNI who oversaw this, Avril Haines, was recently named president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
Replying to @AkbarSAhmed
Addressing how Biden enabled Netanyahu’s portrayal of anti-war protesters as Iranian stooges, this section also includes big revelations about the Biden team’s dubious treatment of intelligence over Gaza. Their approach caused alarm in Congress, in the IC & among their own staff.

Today, I am filing a lawsuit against Columbia University and SIPA Dean Keren Yarhi-Milo for their gross and systemic discrimination against Palestinian students at Columbia. I am joined in this action by my friends at the Palestine Working Group.
Columbia laid the groundwork for my targeting by the Trump administration through its deliberate indifference and discrimination aimed at intimidating Palestinian students. For over two years, we pleaded with Columbia. Columbia did not care. Our safety and our wellbeing did not serve the ideological project its Board of Trustees was protecting, so they traded us away.
We are suing because no student should ever have to go through the hell Columbia put us through all these years.
I will continue to seek accountability for all the wrongs that were done to me and my peers. Next, I will turn to the hateful individuals at Columbia who were also responsible for what we endured. Stay tuned.

One year ago, the Trump admin began its campaign of extrajudicial killings off the coast of Latin America. We’re proud to join 41 other organizations in urging Congress to end this boat strike campaign and commit to real accountability:

They hit em with the full government name but dropped the honorific. That’s Dr. Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed and soon you’ll be calling him Senator!
I think some Dems in Congress misunderstand how angry the grassroots is about Trump's wars, corruption, and attacks on democracy, all of which Gray supported by supporting the NDAA.
It's crazy that this needs saying in 2026, but voters want you to fight Trump, not enable him.
Scoop: MoveOn cancels plans to endorse Rep. Adam Gray, D-Calif., citing his vote to help pass the NDAA, to which House GOP leaders attached the SAVE act. Six Dems voted for it. MoveOn endorsed Gray in 2024, when he was first elected. nbcnews.com/politics/trump-a…

If true, this is tantamount to the United States' giving up on nonproliferation.
Saudi officials are open about a potential interest in nuclear weapons. The United States should do nothing to facilitate enrichment or reprocessing in the Kingdom.

I wrote in @ForeignPolicy: If the US captures Iranian coastal areas, the loss of territorial integrity will be a huge material & moral loss for the regime. It will puncture the narrative of strength the regime has been projecting to the Iranian people.

Trump's Board of Peace is failing on aid, failing on reconstruction, provides no path to Palestinian self-determination, and leaves Palestinians at the whims of Trump and his cronies.
Maybe that's acceptable to @HillaryClinton, but it's not to us. Read our new report below.
Opinion: 'If even I, an implacable opponent of the president, can accept this as the best option, then surely others can too?' writes former US secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton. ft.trib.al/yLHJA2z

Democrats who oppose the war on Iran should welcome the peace deal.
It may not be a great deal. But the alternative is continuing a devastating war that has already unleashed massive death and destruction across the region and could escalate even further.
Criticize the process. Debate the details. But don’t lose sight of the goal: ending this unnecessary war.
