Idaho is considering a law that makes leaving the state with your trans teen to provide them with care a felony. And a new Missouri law would prohibit women from leaving the state to get an abortion. I don't know how they want to enforce these, but their attempt should alarm us.

The scariest thing about this part of the pandemic is the bipartisan power establishment is unified in downplaying/not fully responding to what’s happening

This @CTULocal1 school nurse has been locked out of work. I had 5 meetings today scheduled with families whose children need special education and have medical conditions. We asked for safety and got a #LoriLockout instead

A 14 year old child trying on dresses for her quinceañera was killed by LAPD today. We waste $8 million dollars a day paying for these failed responses. We’re taught to call 911 for help, but too many ppl get killed after calling. We need life affirming responses to crises.

This is big. Really big. Apple workers are walking out tomorrow, Christmas Eve. Don't cross the picket line.

THREAD: Yesterday, the New York Times published a headline it knew was false. The implications of this are dangerous for everyone who cares about an informed public. Here’s what happened:

This is not the happy promotion/PR move they think it is… If we truly cared about our kids, transportation to school would be free every. single. day.
Catch a free @cta ride today for the first day of school if you’re a CPS student or an accompanying parent 🚃. Here's to a great day!

We’re way past the point of talking about what’s “reasonable.” Power lines are melting in the heat in Portland. Billionaires are paying no taxes and going to space. Buildings and bridges are collapsing. The only reasonable thing to do is change everything.

I want to sit with what it meant for colonialism to rob cultures of entire genders. Genders that were holy and sacred. The scale of that violence globally is hard to imagine. And today the cultures that colonialism produced try to rob us of sacred, holy genders again and again.

If you are still claiming police needed to kill a child I don't have anything to say to you. Because you're clearly okay with the state murdering kids & that's so far down the road to hell there's no turning back. We can't agree to disagree, we can't discuss it. You have to go.

It’s the fact that I can already tell that ppl are going to be less willing to show up for Ma’Kiah Bryant because of the misogyny of this world. We fail black girls everyday.

Teaching today was brutal. My first class of the day is a normally radiant & full-of-life 6th grade class. Today was heavy. We talked about Adam and being 13. Here's their collective poem

the threat to peace in chicago is not protestors. it is the armed agents of the state that have a long history of murdering civilians with impunity. police are the threat. we must abolish the police
