I'm hanging on to this account to keep an eye on what's happening on Twitter (aka search "Brookline" once a day) but I don't plan on posting here anymore (because it sucks!) I'm posting more on bsky, with a similar username

Shuttering E&E News goes directly against what management told staff earlier this year, when our colleagues were asked to consider buyouts. A message from PEN Guild leadership 👇
New: Politico is folding E&E, the energy trade publication it bought in 2020. The company says it is reorganizing its energy coverage under the Politico brand and launching a series of new state and global energy newsletters.

that people now feel less inclined to drive from 61st street to 79th street seems to be a pretty good argument for congestion pricing...
CONGESTION PRICING: Upper East Side resident Andrew lives on 61st street and 5th Avenue, in Congestion "Relief" zone, the second he moves his car, he’s hit with a toll. His kids live on 79th street and he will have to pay congestion price every time he goes to see them.

The "DEI is making aviation less safe" thing remains one of the more transparently and infuriatingly bullshit right wing talking points out there. (I'm allowed to say this now that I don't cover FAA or aviation, right?)
NEWS - Trump picks former congressman Sean Duffy as transportation secretary. Trump statement says Duffy "will make our skies safe again by eliminating DEI for pilots and air traffic controllers."

The supposed smartest guys out there pretending that it takes time and effort to remember when someone wants to be called by different pronouns than the (also made up) ones they were using before. Give me a break. Also the AOC tweet he's responding to is misinfo lacking context
Pronouns probably weren't sustainable because they were a demand on people's time and effort. Suddenly everyone was expected to do this thing that they never had to do before, just to...signal solidarity or something? Americans' default answer to demands on their time is "No".

I did about a half dozen front page stories about Trump’s tariff in The Washington Post during the campaign. It is true that I can’t literally go around and hold people’s eyeballs open Clockwork Orange style and force them to consume what I write
Then why is it that AFTER the election, people who voted for Trump are just learning what tariffs will do to the economy? Why was there barely any reporting disputing Trump’s claims about them & allowing him to lie and say he’d create a great economy? I truly want to understand.
