Looking to develop a list of open source software projects that began within private entities and were publicly released at some point (e.g. React.js, TensorFlow) opendata.stackexchange.com/q… Any contributions or thoughts appreciated!

New WP: I link individuals' property records to many forms of political behavior, incl. speaking at city council meetings. I find individuals become more active in local politics after becoming homeowners and focus on different issues than non-homeowners. dropbox.com/s/irmptu4ddm6z5x…

.@refocuspartners’ Shalini Vajjhala writes that recent inaction on infrastructure projects stems from a funding system that incentivizes state and local governments to wait rather than to take the lead on projects. brook.gs/2EPUJGL

That carbon taxes are progressive even when ignoring use of revenue is an important result that should be spread wide on the Twittersphere. It echoes findings in an earlier paper of mine but with newer data and better tax modeling. works.bepress.com/gilbert_me…

New SB 50 chart will help you make sense of California’s transit-housing bill sf.curbed.com/2019/5/10/1856… via @CurbedSF
California's #SB50, the #MoreHomes Act has changed a bit today after merging with SB4 in the Governance & Finance Committee. Here's a flowchart explaining how different places may or may not be affected. Thanks to @dillonliam's excellent reporting & @anniefryman for details! 1/

New York State gerrymandered a map to qualify Hudson Yards for $1.6 billion in financing meant for low-income areas—by threading it to public housing in Harlem. (@CityLab obtained the map info through FOIA.) bit.ly/2U9uGit

Yes, this is a no brainer from @Austan_Goolsbee that was proposed by the @BarackObama admin early in the first term. In many countries tax return is done by text message. Why not here? Ask Congress. Don't let tax prep firms set policy.

The IRS could quite easily send out auto-completed tax forms, as proposed by @ewarren & @BernieSanders, saving millions of Americans countless hours each year. It's a nudge @R_Thaler would love.

Surprised and happy to discover it is UK Government policy to prefer open source software over alternatives. Guidance here is great: gov.uk/guidance/be-open-and-… EU's position on open source is also strong: ec.europa.eu/info/department… Makes sense to collaborate on this #Brexit or not.
