How the Kurdish Tribes' Genocide Against Christian Assyrians Impacts the Present: The Assyrian panic and sympathy campaign regarding the acts of mass killings, atrocities, and defamation against the Arab community in Hasakah and the Ayn al-Arab region, carried out by Kurdish militias led by the PKK terrorists, has moral and cultural roots. This is due to the fact that Assyrian Christians possess a high level of education and ethics, in addition to their understanding of the suffering of the Arab community because of both distant and recent horrific historical experiences with the Kurdish community. Starting with the distant past, the reason behind the significant expansion of Kurds from southern Turkey to northern Syria and Iraq lies in the fact that Kurdish tribes acted as mercenary groups (auxiliary forces) for the Ottoman army. During that time, Kurdish tribes committed what is known as the Sayfo genocide, which involved the killing of approximately 300,000 Chaldeans and Assyrians in northern Syria and Iraq. These massacres culminated in a campaign of ethnic cleansing and comprehensive demographic change carried out by those Kurdish tribes. In more recent times, the YPG militias, which later transformed into the so-called SDF, attempted to intimidate Christians by repeatedly closing Assyrian Christian schools and launching campaigns of arrests and intimidation against them. However, international and Western protection of the Assyrian community forced the SDF on several occasions to halt and retreat from these practices. #Syria
