When we started building Beam, the idea was simple. An app running on another Mac should feel like a normal window on the one you're using. Getting a window to show up was only the beginning. It had to be fast. It had to look sharp. Resizing had to feel natural. @hnshah and I spent a lot of time making those details work. Beam is live on Product Hunt today. Here's what it looks like.

The cost of making websites feel alive is falling fast. I built this particle-assembled Beam footer in a handful of prompts. A few years ago, I might have spent weeks on this shader. @hnshah and I launched Beam for Mac today. Details below. producthunt.com/products/bea…

The feature cards have another detail you don't see in a screenshot. Move your cursor and the light follows. It catches the border and illuminates little particles as you go. It's a small detail, but it makes the whole section feel more responsive.

Here is the full site in motion. Making things like these has gotten much faster. That means I can try a small idea and see how it feels in the page while I'm still building it. I'm excited about what this changes for tiny teams making software.

Have been beta testing this for a few weeks now. This really has made life so much better! So much better than built-in screen sharing. For anyone working with multiple mac machines, this is a no brainer!! Awesome work @hnshah @SamAsante Beam.win
In June, @SamAsante and I launched Typeahead, the first product from our new company. Today we're releasing our next Mac app. It's called Beam, and we're live on Product Hunt. I've got Macs all over my house doing different work. Some run agents and local models. Others handle builds. When I want to use one app on another Mac, I usually end up navigating a whole second desktop through Screen Sharing. Beam brings that app's window onto the Mac I'm using. It gets its own Dock icon and shows up in ⌘Tab. I can type into it and resize it while everything keeps running on the other Mac. Sam has put a lot of care into making this feel natural. The video shows it better than I can explain it. Live on Product Hunt → producthunt.com/products/bea…

I asked this while @SamAsante and I were building Beam. More than 100 replies led us to people who were already using multiple Macs in all kinds of interesting ways. We brought some of them into early access and learned a ton from how they actually worked. Beam is out now. You can bring an app window from another Mac right onto the one you're using. I want to see your weird multi-Mac setup. If you get into another Mac with Tailscale, Screen Sharing, Jump Desktop or VNC, what do you actually open there and how often? We built something for this. I’m putting together a small group of early Beam users this weekend.

Never knew we needed this until now... Beam by @hnshah and @samasante puts single apps from one Mac on your other Mac, each with its own Dock icon and ⌘Tab spot. So you can open one window from your Mac at home, not its whole screen. Why we like it: when running agents you can call one window on its machine without needing to fight over the mouse.

This is without question the best “remote desktop” (that undersells what it does) app I’ve used. Clean, efficient, low resource utilization. @hnshah and @SamAsante crushed it.

Replying to @hnshah @SamAsante
I’ve been using this often for the last month. Quite better than the native screen share between my Mac mini and MacBook

When you open an app from another Mac with Beam, it gets its own place in your Dock and shows up in ⌘Tab, right alongside the apps already on your Mac. That feeling of the app belonging in your workspace is what we’ve been working toward.

I’ve been beta testing this thing for about a month and it rocks! It’s better than anything else I’ve tried. This should be an instant purchase for anyone managing 2 or more Macs. beam.win

Meet Beam. Share windows between your Macs. A window over there becomes a real window right here: live, sharp, with its own Dock icon and a place in ⌘Tab. Free to try at beam.win

I've been using Beam a while. Has far surpassed Screen Sharing for me, and it continues to get better and better. Well done to you all @hnshah @SamAsante
