Szkołę, w której pracował, opisał jako miejsce permanentnego chaosu, przemocy i zniszczenia. Bijatyki zdarzały się codziennie. Grupy nastolatków z zewnątrz regularnie chodziły po salach lekcyjnych, żeby kogoś znaleźć, pobić albo okraść. Widok uczniów uprawiających seks w toaletach, w składzikach na miotły i na klatkach schodowych był czymś normalnym. Administracja wyciszała przypadki masowego uciekania z lekcji i wagarowania. Nagminnie przepychano do wyższych klas miernych uczniów, niepotrafiących czytać i pisać. Groźby i wyzwiska wobec nauczycieli stały się rutyną - podobnie jak brak reakcji ze strony dyrekcji.

Tasia Fortune, a 29-year-old mother of four, was already dead when her body was hung from a tree in Mississippi. Detectives now says the hanging was staged.
Detectives say she was killed during a drug dispute. Three men have now been charged with murder, and two of the three are Black.
But before investigators had established what happened, legacy media coverage was already saying her death was a result of American racism.
A Black woman hanging from a tree understandably is horryfying. But instead of waiting for investigators to establish what happened, the story was already being framed through race and the history of lynching.
Fortune was already dead. Investigators say the hanging was staged and three men have been charged, two black. Unsure of the third man's race.
The narrative was getting ahead of the investigation, and now the facts investigators have uncovered tell a very different story.

Police confirmed that the mother had been struck on the head and set on fire; she suffered 65% burns, a broken pelvis, broken ribs, and a cut to her liver. Nolan’s GPS data shows him at McDonald’s at approximately 8:24 AM, while the newly released Life360 data shows Warren at McDonald’s from 7:42 AM–7:55 AM—roughly 30 minutes earlier.
