These damn near fully-grown “teenage” finches flying around my yard following their parents and begging to be fed a seed they could easily take from the feeder themselves make me chuckle.

Dang, Khan Academy explainer vids are such a gift. Family started questioning me about zeroth power exponents this morning over breakfast…and I was not explaining very well. Sal Khan to the rescue! Now they’re like “Oh yeah, it makes so much sense!” khanacademy.org/math/cc-sixt…
I don’t know if this is just normal middle age status, but I get a real charge out of watching all the youngsters do crazy flips and dives at @therivieraclub diving boards. Been a fun summer with my kiddo here.

Also love the moms and dads still representing off that high dive and managing to avoid getting hurt (myself included)!

My favorite thing, though, is watching kids step up to the high dive, get scared, turn back down, and then head back up a few mins later to face their fear and make the jump! Courage is a learned skill.
We are asking @GovHolcomb to consider how anti-women's rights legislation is bad not only for women, but also for business in Indiana, for the tech community, and for everyone. indyhackers.org/assets/holco…
My 9-year-old told me she would enjoy having the top gun anthem as an alarm clock. “Whoever wrote this is a genius!” m.youtube.com/watch?v=zCTJmX…

I’ve listened to mourning dove songs my whole life, but I never really heard them until Shannon told me they were one of her top two favorite birdsongs a year or so ago. Now I truly love hearing them, too. (Her other top song is that sung by the loon, which is my number 1.)

We've been growing a nonpartisan climate movement in Indiana for the past two years. From all of my networking, it feels like nobody in the power centers care about Indiana (or the Midwest). It's an overlooked opportunity, and I can't seem to get anyone outside Indiana to care.

My neighbor told me that if I will plant a maple 🍁 in the yard to replace the glorious jewel of the neighborhood that previous owner cut down because another neighbor complained about leaves, the whole ‘hood would gather around the planting like the Whos at Christmas.

In 10-20 years it’ll help my calculations with @carbonneutralIN , too. Bonus! Definitely doing this in the spring!

Been really into animals my whole life; tried lots of different pets growing up; didn't discover until adulthood that all I was ever really wanting were dogs and cats: strange and furry little aliens to bond with and consider full-fledged members of the family.
I have an indoor/outdoor cat. I am sometimes conflicted about this, but we found her in an alley 19 years ago. I have trouble believing that her life would be as full and her ability to express her catness as complete if all indoors. I worried that it bugged my… (1/2)

Intro-ed visiting father-in-law to Ted Lasso, and his obsession pushed our timeline to finally finish season 2. Love the show; disliked last ep. Felt like writers went for a lot of dramatic tropes they’ve been so satisfyingly avoiding.

On a different but related note, “Oi” is the best interjection. Gonna start using that to get my family’s attention from now on.

Parenting insight that a million other parents have probably had before me: Prioritize your kid’s book recommendations above almost everyone else’s. 1) kid is part you, so recs will prolly be rad. 2) insights into her thought life will be 💯for connection and relationship.
