Apprentice Rushid Afzali says society should use the term LEETs (Looking for Education, Employment and Training), rather than NEETs (Not in Education, Employment and Training).
He says the word NEET suggests young people do not want to work and instead portrays them as "absent".
It comes after a new report published this week has found that the number of 16 to 24-year-olds in that bracket has now increased to more than a million in the UK.
Channel 4 News led a discussion on the issue with Rushid, 24-year-old graduate Oscar Brown, University of Manchester Vice Chancellor Duncan Ivison and Kate Nicholls, CEO of UKHospitality.

When I constantly hear how things for child victims/survivors of sexual abuse are wonderful, that it’s not like the past etc etc, I know that’s not true despite the rhetoric, and from daily work @TMOFCharity at The Maggie Oliver Foundation proves just what a false statement that is.
Over the years I’ve done a lot of work with @Channel4 around “grooming gangs”, sexual abuse, police failures, Op Augusta, Rochdale etc etc. In fact @sallyches Sally Chesworth one of those involved in this story here was the very first documentary maker I worked with to share the truth of Rochdale after I resigned from @gmpolice Greater Manchester Police - and although mainstream media often acts as though the horrors and institutional neglect victims faced for decades is only just known, that’s not true. They’re just playing “catch up” as for decades they mainly turned away!
Last month Channel 4 exposed a new MO for child abusers in vape shops, and here’s the next part of their series sharing the shameful neglect this child Keira experienced. And the failures that Keira has endured at the hands of inaction by the police is exactly what I saw in 2004/5 on Op Augusta, and in Rochdale and throughout the country! And that’s over 20 years ago!!
When will they learn to act at the first signs! To PROTECT the child!! They just don’t! All too often they wait until it’s too late, and the child has had their whole future irretrievably damaged when it could have been avoided! Just ask Keira…
And Perhaps also watch the Channel 4 drama I Believe…. Which Covers the John Worboys black cab rapist case , and is a stark reminder showing how police inaction led to countless young lives destroyed!!

In case you missed it, the link to our full story centring around the experiences of “Erin” who was 14 when she was groomed at a vape shop. Incredibly courageous young woman. She says children and parents need to be aware of the dangers behind rogue shops.
A 14 year old girl was lured to the back of a vape shop and raped.
The owner was on bail at the time for another assault in another vape shop.

People seam to have no idea how hard it was for me to walk away from this inquiry.
I have fought for this my whole adult life.
I had my children removed from me for 54 weeks by Bradford council 2 years ago to stop me fighting for this and try to silence me. I stood my ground and they returned them but the trauma from that will never leave me and my family.
I have put my heart and soul into fighting for this. Been on every single news chanel and news paper since 2019 calling out the grooming gang scandal amd cover up.
I spend every day trying to help other survivors off my own back just to try and make a difference.
Realising this inquiry still wasnt going to give us the truth and was set up to fail from the get go was heart breaking.
16 years of my life this scandal has stole from me. I thought this inquiry finally would be the the moment that we all got proper justice and answers and could finally move on with our life's.
Instead, left to run in the direction it was, it would of just been another white wash and another failing to add to the long list of failings.
16 years ive held strong in this fight against every system that tried to stop me and ive stayed hopeful. Sunday night that hope was finally killed in me.
So no this wasnt politically motivated. Or what ever else im being accused of. This was a devastating and extremely difficult decision that I would of never of made unless I absolutely had to.

Grooming gang survivor Fiona Goddard claims the Minister should go over national inquiry crisis.
The National Inquiry into grooming gangs has been thrown into crisis before it has even begun.
Three members of the survivor liaison panel have resigned with claims of a "toxic culture" and a "cover up".
One of them has told this programme that the Safeguarding Minister Jess Phillips should stand down, accusing the government of failing victims all over again.
