The Alamo really is an inverse shibboleth for people who actually grew up in Texas because as Jessica points out, it was San Jacinto that was the actual moment of glory for Texas Independence and we're all taught this in school. If you point to the Alamo as the grand victory, we're gonna assume you didn't grow up in Texas.
Sometimes I remember Ken Paxton didn’t take seventh-grade Texas history because he’s not from here. Like when he announced he’d conclude his “Come and Take It” tour at the Alamo, a place where the Mexican army did, in fact, come and take it.

The Texas Tribune reported this morning that Ken Paxton took 1000 trips out of state as AG but only 138 could be verified as relating to state business. Almost all of the trips were with security supplied by DPS at a cost of millions to taxpayers. He took trips to his 15 out of state properties and to Albania, Aruba, Australia, Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, England, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Mexico, Poland, South Africa or Taiwan.

Personally, I’ve made the decision to give all of my employees June 19th off in honor of Freedom Day from now on, and to continue to educate myself on the history that brought us to this present moment.
