I think one thing you need to know about yourself is if you’re someone who feels alive having people around you, because people like that can easily mistake presence for friendship. It gets worse when you’re successful or financially buoyant because you naturally attract colleagues, acquaintances, old school mates and people who benefit from being around you. The difficult part is that these people might genuinely like you. But liking you, enjoying your company and being your friend are different things. Especially when someone earns from you or benefits from your access, you have to account for that incentive before deciding what the relationship actually is. For me, close friendship is built on history. They know your life, you know theirs and I think the real classification of many relationships only becomes obvious when the thing that originally connected you disappears. Sometimes nobody betrayed you. You just called someone a friend who was actually a colleague, acquaintance, employee, neighbours, workers or someone who enjoyed the version of life they had around you.

At the end, maybe Peter is the emotional person who wears his feelings on his sleeves, which is why he trusted everyone he called family 100% and why any sign of betrayal hit him hard. His twin brother would know this and expect him to hear out how he sees reality and help retain love in the family. Instead, you turned your back on the same person you both shared a womb with and joined a greedy elder brother to rip him off. Then you drop this about a sin you have committed yourself. If he dated an older lady, you, an older man, are in a relationship with someone 19 years younger and everyone still loves you. I don't even fault Jude again; this guy is the only person in the world who owed Peter 100% loyalty because of the bond they shared, but just look at him.
