Thank you @HeartRhythmTV and @jczerpa for the opportunity to talk about our recently published HALO protocol:

High-density Left atrial ICE-guided PFA was associated with very low recurrence rates for paroxysmal AF, suggesting much improved lesion durability.
Congrats @saadgui1 . Great job!

NEW Global EP episode: #HRStv host @jczerpa is joined by @EduardoSaad3, and Guilherme Saad to discuss their recently published study, "Fluoroless High-Density Pulsed Field vs Radiofrequency Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation Guided by Left Atrial Intracardiac Echocardiography: The HALO Protocol," published in Heart Rhythm Journal. Excited to serve as first author on the paper describing the “The HALO Protocol,” just published ahead of print (Open Access) in Heart Rhythm.

HALO standardizes a fluoroless, antral isolation workflow with high-density overlapping lesion sets using left atrial ICE-guided contact verification, and EAM lesion tagging. We compared PFA and RFA, isolating energy modality as the variable of interest.
In 192 consecutive patients, PFA was associated with significantly lower arrhythmia recurrence in paroxysmal AF.
Grateful for all the co-authors for the continued mentorship and hard work.

This weekend I had the privilege of presenting three first-author abstracts at the Eastern-Atlantic Student Research Forum (ESRF) 52nd Annual Research Symposium, sponsored by the American Physician Scientist Association (APSA) and hosted by the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine!
All three posters focused on a zero-fluoroscopy, left atrial ICE-guided pulsed field ablation (PFA) workflow for atrial fibrillation, each addressing a different dimension of the approach:
- Feasibility and outcomes of high-density lesion delivery in a zero-fluoro PFA workflow
- The safety and clinical impact of extending lesion sets beyond the pulmonary veins to the posterior wall and SVC
- A comprehensive safety evaluation of the workflow across renal, esophageal, phrenic, vascular, and sinus node markers
Grateful to all the co-authors for the continued mentorship. Huge thanks to Miller School of Medicine for providing a platform that elevates student research and for hosting an outstanding scientific forum!
