You can now launch #oracledatabase base DB service on Ampere based shapes. Unfortunately #oraclerac isn't available yet (so only LVM). Don't be surprised by max 57 OCPU, that has do with memory/socket assignment. PS: And no Standard Edition

#oracledatabase 21c is now also available on BM/VM DB with and without GI stack - also as RAC... ;)

Minor but really important change for #oraclecloud VM DB Systems. If you run a 2 node VM cluster (with RAC) the shape change essentially now is without database downtime, as we do a rolling shape change (one node after the other). docs.cloud.oracle.com/en-us/…

New #oracleexadata X8M is now available in #oraclecloud. The big news is the capability to add storage and database nodes seperately after launch! Note: This also introduced a new resource model: "Exadata Infrastrucuture" and Exadata VM Clusters (previously the Exadata DB System)

Finally Autonomous #oracledatabase Shared does provide a DR capability across ADs. Simply enable "Autonomous Data Guard" for your instance in console. Takes a while to enable (and will go over an unavailable state for Standby)

#oracledatabase 20c preview version in #oraclecloud is now updated to 20.3. Just in case you want to try out 20c new features, launch a new one. Remember 20c preview is not for production and (unfortunatley) only available with Logical Volume Manager (no ASM).

#oraclecloud Exadata Cloud Service now has a scheduler capability to set your preferences for infrastructure maintenance: docs.cloud.oracle.com/en-us/… Make sure to modify the schedule before next patch is scheduled in May (though you now can always alter it later).

Cross Regional #oracledatabase Data Guard is now available in #oraclecloud through Console/OCI CLI/API in OCI. As we are waiting for documentation update, make sure to setup VCN peering before (requirement for Cross Region DG).
