Some answers to my question about what would trigger use of #H5N1 vaccine being purchased by Canada. #NACI, the advisory group that recommends vaccine policy in Canada, has issued preliminary guidance on how/when to use H5 vaccine in a non-pandemic context. canada.ca/en/public-health/s…
Interesting: Canada is buying 500,000 doses of #GSK 's #H5N1 vaccine "as part of ... contingency planning to protect people who may be at increased risk of being exposed to the virus through [infected] animals."
Wonder what would trigger a decision to use it?

Confirmed case of Marburg 👇🏻 underscoring critical community efforts to contain and prevent further transmission.
In #Tanzania 🇹🇿, WHO is working closely with the government to respond to the confirmed outbreak of #Marburg Virus Disease in the Kagera region.
@DrTedros met with President @SuluhuSamia to assess the situation and support ongoing efforts. The government has scaled up its response by enhancing case detection, setting up treatment centers, deploying a mobile lab, and mobilizing national response teams.
WHO has pledged continued support and has released an additional US$3 million from the Contingency Fund for Emergencies.
Together, we are committed to protecting lives and containing this outbreak.
