GAH IM SUCH AN IDIOT I was looking up why my aulacera trunk segments had such segmented lighting and [Shade Smooth] came up.
I can't believe such a vital, elementary function escaped me for SO LONG NONE OF MY MESHES WERE SMOOTH
LOOK HOW GOOD THEY LOOK SMOOTH
ten hours of redoing and tweaking the water visuals...
I think it was worth it! especially if you compare it to the old videos
finally added bubbles! It also appears for creatures swimming or turning at high speeds, and other attack animations.
and I'm going to have a biome dedicated to these new rolling hills of algae, something about it is so peaceful
showcasing the new environmental details and water/lighting visuals! I think its a lot more lively now
Redid the sun and lighting and bloom levels as well as vignette... It's less blindingly harsh while still keeping the dream aesthetic im trying to pursue
Will be working on new areas and biomes as well as more optimization next!
some footage of the stuff I've been working on recently:
map assets (brachiopod shell clutter and exposed seabed/strata) as well as redoing the overly bright ocean depth lighting that was searing my eyeballs
and finished interactions with predatory conodonts! creatures can shake!
making some terrain assets, as im going to be focusing more on the map next! Probably going to make some shell clutter, small rocks as well and maybe start on some Aulacera!
reusing the grapple system for struggling/escaping and will probably use it for shaking off creatures that are latched on as well!
It'll be harder to escape grabs from much larger creatures, and if you're out of stam and can't get away from it, you're gonna be sent back 2 menu
a very WIP of swarm interactions!
I still need to make the conodonts swim more frantically when in frenzy and latching and to make their movement more erratic.
If you can't escape this swarm, you'll need to take down at least half their number before they'll retreat!
some progress on grappling as well as behavior for the conodonts! I've been doing a lot of experimenting on the grapple mechanic and its slowly getting to a good place, I think...
the conodonts can now scatter and flee, and im planning on doing their attaching and attacking next
the #DragonsDogma2 DLC is coming out soon so I drew my pawn Eleni to celebrate!!
progress has been kinda slow recently (still recovering from health issues + updates to my favourite games lol)
but here's the designs for the upcoming conodonts! one is supposed to be a passive cleaner/follower and the other a bloodthirsty swarming predator.
